Hint: Such regions where the sun’s rays fall differently and cause different climate patterns are called heat zones. There are different heat zones of the earth.

Complete Answer:There are 3 heat zones in the earth and these are - torrid zone, temperate zone and frigid zone. The hottest heat zone is the torrid zone and it is the area near the equator therefore sun shines directly overhead on this zone. Tropics is another name given to the torrid heat zone. The torrid zone’s boundary to the north is the Tropic of Cancer and to the south is the Tropic of Capricorn.

In the temperate heat zones the sun is never directly overhead. There are 2 temperate heat zones and because the sun is never overhead therefore the zone consists of tepid latitudes. Spring, summer, autumn and winter - the four annual seasons - occur in these areas.

The polar region makes up the two frigid zones and this zone experiences the midnight sun and polar night for most part of the year. In the poles we can witness an amazing phenomenon when there is daylight for six months and for six months there is night. This region is the least hot because the sun’s rays are always slanting and therefore they provide less heat.

Therefore the correct answer is option A.

Note: Greek scholar Parmenides was the first person to give the concept of geographical zones and this concept was modified by Aristotle. Koppen climate classification is the most commonly used climate map nowadays.
