Hint: Macro consumers are consumers that consume nutrition in large amounts and also their requirement of nutrition is large. Carnivores consume the meat of the animals only as their nutrition source and herbivores consume plants. Both are consumers.

Step by step answer: There are two types of consumers or heterotrophs based on how much they consume in a biotic ecosystem: macro consumers and micro consumers.
Micro consumers are decomposers. They consume very less amount of the matter for nutrition because their nutritional requirement is very less in amount than other heterotrophs. Their role in the ecosystem is important as they also help in nutrient cycling called biogeochemical cycles. They are micro-organisms which consume the dead matter like fungi and some bacteria which cannot produce their own food and are heterotrophs or saprophytic in nature. Macro consumers are also called phagotrophs as they directly ingest the other animals or plants. They include carnivores, omnivores and herbivores. Herbivores are plant-eating organisms for example deer, elephants, cows, etc. Carnivores are animal eaters which consume whole animals as a part of their nutrition for example lion, tiger, snakes, etc. Omnivores can eat plants as well as animals for their nutrition, for example, birds, dogs, humans, foxes, etc.
Thus the correct answer is option C.

Note: Scavengers are also heterotroph consumers. They are animal eating too, but they do not kill animals and eat. Rather, they feed on dead animals or feed on leftovers by the carnivores. They are different from carnivores.
