Complete answer:
Congo River in Africa crosses the Equator twice. It was earlier known as Zaire River during the dictatorship of Mobutu Sese Seko. It is the world’s deepest recorded river. The Congo system has an overall length of approximately 4,700km making it the world’s 9th longest river.
It is the only major river to cross the equator twice. Its basin has a total area of about 4,000,000 sq. Km of 13% of the total African landmass.
The Livingstone Falls prevent access from the sea and nearly the entire Congo above them is readily navigable in sections. Navigation is especially between Kinhasa and Kisangani. All the large river systems worked in Congo until recently. It is still a lifeline in a land with few roads or railways.
Much of the trade of Central Africa passes along the river and Railways now bypasses the three major falls. The traded items include copper, palm oil, sugar, coffee and cotton. It is valuable for the potential hydroelectric power. Inga Dams below Pool Malebo are the first to exploit the Congo River.

Therefore, Option (B) is correct answer.

Note: It is the most powerful river in Africa and during the rainy season, Over 50,000 cubic metres of water per second flows into the Atlantic Ocean. According to some calculations, Congo Basin accounts for 13% of the global hydropower potential.
