Hint: Sowing is an important step in crop production or crop cultivation. Before sowing, good quality, healthy and clean seeds of good variety are selected.

Complete step by step answer: Sowing is the act of scattering the seeds in the soil for growing the crop plants. Before sowing the seed, the important role is to select a good quality of seeds. The healthy and good quality of seeds can be identified by putting the seeds in the water. The healthy seeds sink in the water while the damaged seeds float on the water because they are hollow from inside and become lighter in weight. By this method, one can separate the healthy seeds from unhealthy or damaged seeds.
 Methods of sowing
Sowing by hand: Ancient people used this method when they didn't have any tools to sow the seeds. The seeds are taken in the hands and slowly thrown or scattered in the soil. This step is slow and a time taking process. But it is a cost-effective method. This method can be used only for a small area of land.
Sowing with the help of tools: There are different types of tools which are used to sow the seeds.
Traditional tool: The tool is funnel-shaped with long pipes. The seeds are filled in the funnel and its passing through the pipes having sharp ends. These ends pierce into the soil and help in placing the seeds. This works with the help of domesticated animals, especially cows.
Seed drill: With advancement, nowadays people are using the seed drill along with a tractor to sowing the seeds. The shape is mostly similar to that of the traditional tool but with more advancement. In a seed drill, there are many pipes and shape ends. In this seeds are sown uniformly and at the equal distance and depth. It ensures that sowed seeds are covered by the soil after sowing. It consumes less time and labours.
