Eid-ul-Fitr is the holy festival of Muslims who celebrate it with zest and zeal all over the world. Eid marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan during which the Muslims fast. The fast begins at sunrise and ends at sunset. Ramadan doesn’t only restrict fast food and water but also prohibits people to get involved in any bad behavior or sexual relation. It is a fast body and soul together. It is like a purification process and Eid is like a reward for such patience. People fill themselves with the refreshment of strong spirits and morality. On Eid, people wear clean clothes and gather at the mosque for a special prayer to start the day with. After the prayer (namaz), they hug and greet each other. The day leads on with festive meals and charity offerings to the poor and the needy. Dishes, especially sweet dishes like Sewai, Gulab Jamun, Rasmalai, etc are prepared and offered to each other as well as distributed among the poor. Houses are sparkling clean and people visit each other’s houses with gifts and spend quality time together. A social gathering is also observed.
