Propene is also known by some other names called propylene and methyl ethylene and it is an unsaturated compound having chemical formula $C_3{H}_6$. This compound contains one double bond. Propene is the second simplest member of alkene family, the first member is ethane and these compounds are also kept in the category of hydrocarbons i.e. compounds which are generally made up of carbon and hydrogen. Propene is a colourless gas which has faint petroleum-like odour.
