Hint:
The most threatening cyclone occurs in the Bay of Bengal in the Winter monsoon. The rainfall occurs in the whole continent in the summer monsoon and the wind is moist in this season.
Complete solution:
Summer Monsoon –
- The winds of this monsoon blow from June to September. These winds are responsible for heavy rainfall and humid climate.
- The winds blow from the South to West direction. In this monsoon, near the land area, the pressure is low and around the water bodies, the pressure is high.
- The major crops that depend on the summer monsoon include rice and tea. The dry region of the country also depends on the monsoon so that it will fill the wells, lakes, ponds, and rivers so that the agricultural sector will not get affected.
Retreating Monsoon –
- The winds of this monsoon blow from October to November. This monsoon is also called the “North-East Monsoon” or “ Winter Monsoon”.
- These winds flow from North to East direction. In this monsoon, the rainfall decreases but humidity is high. The sky is clear and the weather is not cloudy.
- The area that receives the maximum rainfall from retreating monsoon is “Tamil Nadu”. These winds flow from land to sea.
Additional Information – The area that receives low rainfall in retreating monsoon include Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. The North-East is namely Assam, Mizoram, Meghalaya, etc receives high rainfall.
Note:
In retreating monsoon, there is a high temperature which is often termed “ October heat”. The sector of electricity that is produced by the hydroelectric power plant also depends on the summer monsoon.
