Hint: Many plants which have prop roots but the most common are two. One plant is that which is the national tree of India and second one is that whose latex is used for making balls and bags.
Complete solution:
Prop roots are special types of roots which are also known as pillar roots. These roots come under adventitious roots. These types of roots develop from the massive horizontal branches in trees, hang downwards and eventually enter the soil. This provides them pillar-like appearance. Prop roots are found in plants like Ficus benghalensis (Banyan tree), India-rubber tree, Corn etc.
Prop root- This is the type of modified roots that arise from the stem of some types of the plants and supply extra support. Such stems are mostly found to be tall and slender and also the prop roots develop at successively higher levels because the stem elongates, as within the maize plant. Another type or roots which are known as buttress roots, which develop at the base of the trunks of the many tropical trees, are similar but tend to possess a more flattened appearance. Stilt roots are stouter than prop roots. Those types of roots which are formed at the bottom of the mangrove tree provide firm anchorage within the soft mud of the swamps.
Note:
Indian tree i.e Banyan is the National tree of India, whose branches themselves transform into the roots like new trees over an outsized area because of this special property and also because of its longevity, this tree is taken into account as immortal and is an integral part of the myths and legends of India.
