Sita begged Lord Agnideva not to hurt Hanuman. Lord Agnideva cooled his flames and though Hanuman's tail was still on fire it didn't hurt him. Meanwhile, Hanuman decided to have some fun. Shrinking in body size he quickly shook off the rope. Then leaping from building to putting them together, he set them on fire. Soon the whole city of Lanka was burning.
Fearing that his prank may have hurt Sita, Hanuman rushed to work out her but was relieved to see her safe.
Then bidding her farewell, he jumped into the ocean and across to Rama.
