There was an old tamp. The old street lamp had flashed and given light for 24 years. He served the street for a longer period. Now, this was his last day of work. He was to retire today. He was thinking about what would be his future afterward.
The following day, he would be taken before the city hall leader (mayor) who might determine his destiny. Mayor is the person who will decide whether this lamp will work ahead or not. The lamp was worried about his future. Everyone was eager to listen to the decision of the mayor. He would either serve in a town or a processing plant or would be broken down in an iron foundry.
The Street Lamp
He recalled everything he had seen from the post. He remembered the entire good and bad incidents. He recalled how he gave light to the city over the last 24 years. He would unquestionably miss the gatekeeper who had joined duty that night he was placed up on the post. The watchman’s wife would clean him and give him oil consistently. With this large number of cheerful thoughts and memories, he moaned and headed out to rest. He was satisfied with his work and dedication. At least he fulfilled his duty every night for 24 years. This was a great honor for him.
Surprisingly, the following night he realized that he was lighting in the watchman's home. It was a great surprise for him. The lamp was so happy and exciting. The guard had asked the city hall leader (mayor) to permit him to keep the lamp.
He was relieved to know that this was not the end of his life; it could light for a few more years. The old lamp was exceptionally glad for he could now live with the watchman's family until the end of time. Now he could live his life happily. He thanked the watchman and his wife for giving him a new life. It was lighting again, it was glowing again.
