Once upon a time, two clans lived in a forest. One clan was of the crows, and another was of the owls. The owls were stronger and misused their power to bully the crows all the time.
The crows were not happy but could not do anything. The owls were becoming notorious every day. One day, they decided to kill all the crows and take over their territory.
The owl king bullying the crows
Learning about this, the King of Crows discussed with his ministers to find a plan. He wanted his subjects to survive the owl attack.
The Blue Crow Minister was the wisest of all. He said, “Cut my claws and injure me well.” All the other ministers and subjects in the royal court were surprised. He said, “Trust me and do what I say. Leave me here injured and get out of the forest for the time being.” Nobody had any plan. So, all agreed on what the minister had to say.
The Owl King marched with his troops and attacked. To his surprise, there was not a single crow left. He spotted a blue crow injured with claws cut. He asked, “What happened to you? Where are the other crows?”
The crow minister replied, “I told them to sign a truce with you and become your slaves. They beat me and left me to die.”
The Owl King was impressed. He said, “Make him one of my ministers. He will give us more information of what plans the crows are making.” The owl ministers said, “This is not a good idea, my lord. He is an enemy.”
The Owl King denied it and said, “You opposed my decision. Get out before I kill you all.” The ministers left the arrogant king.
The owl king making the crow a minister
In this Owl and Crow Story, the blue crow minister regained strength and grew claws. He gave good insights and won the trust of the Owl King.
One day, the owls asked the minister. “Winter is approaching. How can we make a better nest?” The crow minister replied, “Gather dry leaves, twigs, and feathers. They will make nests stronger and warmer.” Everyone agreed and started to make new nests with leaves, twigs, and feathers.
At night, the crow minister left his nest and reached out to his clan. He said, “Bring fire. Tonight is the night when we kill the owls and end this.”
All the crows brought the fire that night and set all the nests on fire. The resting owls died in that fire, and the crows finally got rid of them.
The moral of this story is that an enemy should not be trusted at all. No matter how well he behaves, we must know his intentions. This story also teaches us that a good plan can destroy enemies at once. All the plan needs is to recognise a weak point of the enemies.
