Goodie and Baddie, the Two Friends
Goodie was always kind and helpful to others while Baddie was mean and cunning. One day, both friends decided to go to the nearest city and do some business. Luckily, due to their good business skills of Goodie, their business took off and the two friends earned a lot of money. When they were coming back home, Baddie had an idea.
Baddie said, “We should hide our wealth in that tree nearby. We can come back here in the morning and then take everything back to the village. Burying it near the tree will keep it safe.” Goodie thought for a while and agreed since it was nighttime and he didn’t want to risk getting robbed. So, both the friends dug a hole near the tree and buried the money. Then they both left for their homes. But Baddie went to the tree on the same night and took all the money for himself. He filled the empty pit and covered everything up.
The next morning when both the friends dig the hole, they find it completely empty. Immediately, Baddie started accusing Goodie of stealing all the wealth and taking it for himself. Goodie tried to say that he is innocent but Baddie didn’t listen to him.
Both friends started quarrelling and pretty soon the king heard about the issue. So, he called them both to court and asked who did the crime. Baddie pointed out to Goodie and said that he stole the money while Goodie kept defending himself. Baddie said, “We should ask the tree itself who did it.” So, they go to the tree and Baddie asks, “Tell us who stole the money.” A voice comes from the tree that says, “It was Goodie who took the money.” Everyone including Goodie was shocked to hear the voice. Goodie understood that there was something wrong so he decided to solve the problem.
Goodie took a few branches and leaves lying nearby and put them right in front of the tree. He then set fire to the tree and moved away. After some time, everyone heard a man cough and run out from the tree.
The Tree on Fire
All the people surrounded him and asked who he was. The man replied, “I am Baddie’s father. He asked to me frame Goodie as the thief so that Baddie can get all the money.” Finally, Goodie’s innocence was proved and Baddie got punished.
