Once there was a small pond near a house. Two frogs lived there happily. One day, it was raining very heavily. The water of the pond rose to a considerable level. The frogs found it quite alarming.

They wanted to be safe from the rising water. They decided to take shelter in the nearby house. The house belonged to a baker. They entered the kitchen from a small opening in the window. To their surprise, they slipped and fell in a pail of milk stored right below the window.

The Struggling Frogs 

Both the frogs were frightened as the pail was quite slippery. No matter how much they tried, they could not get out. The milk was heavy to swim in. Even though they were good swimmers, they were not accustomed to swimming in milk.

What were they going to do? One frog asked the other in fear, “What should we do?” The second frog told the first one to keep floating and paddling.

The first frog saw no hope as they could not find a way out of the pail, and both of them were getting tired slowly.

The first frog said to the second one, “I can’t swim anymore. My limbs are getting tired. I think I will drown.” The second frog told him not to lose hope. Someone will surely come and rescue them from drowning in the milk. He insisted the first frog keep swimming.

The First Frog Gave Up
