Chapter-1  Electrostatics

The sub-topics in the above topic are mentioned below:

Conservation of charge, Electric Charges, Coulomb’s law-force between two point charges, forces between multiple charges, the principle of superposition and continuous charge distribution.

• Electric field due to a point charge, Electric field, electric field lines, electric field due to a dipole electric dipole, torque on a dipole in a uniform electric field.

Chapter 2 The Current Electricity

• This topic includes electrical resistance, Ohm’s law, V-I characteristics of linear and nonlinear, electrical resistivity and conductivity, electrical energy and power, Resistor of Carbon, the carbon resistors colour code; parallel and series combinations of resistors and the dependency of temperature of a resistance.

• A cell's Internal resistance, the difference between the potential or the  potential difference and emf of a cell, cells combination in parallel and series. The laws of  Kirchhoff’s and its simple applications. The bridge of Wheatstone, the bridge of meter or metre bridge.

• Potentiometer –  is the application and principle to measure difference of potential and for comparing emf of two cells also it is used and even for the measurement of internal resistance of a cell.

Chapter 3 Magnetic Effect of Current and Magnetism

• In this chapter we discuss the Concept of magnetic field as well as Oersted’s experiment.

• Biot that is also known as Biot– Savart law and the application of it to current carrying circular loops.

• Ampere’s law and the applications to infinitely long wire which is straight. Toroidal and Straight solenoid.

• Force which is applied on a moving charge which is a uniform electric and magnetic field and the Cyclotron.

• The Force which is applied on a current-carrying conductor in a field which is uniform magnetic. Torque which is another form of force which is experienced by a current loop in uniform magnetic field, the moving coil galvanometer- which is the current conversion and sensitivity to voltmeter and ammeter.

Chapter 4 The Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Current

• This topic includes Electromagnetic induction, the law of  Faraday’s, induced current and emf, Lenz’s Law and the Eddy currents.

• Mutual and Self Induction, Need for replacement of the current.

Chapter 5 Electromotive Waves

• This topic includes electromagnetic waves and their characteristics along with their  transverse nature that is qualitative ideas only.

Chapter 6 Optics

• This topic includes the Reflection of light, spherical mirrors, mirror formula. 

Chapter 7 The Dual Nature of Matter

• Hertz and Lenard’s observations, Photoelectric effect, Einstein’s photoelectric equation-particle light nature.

Chapter 8 The Atoms and Nuclei

• Rutherford’s model of atom, Alpha-particle scattering experiment, energy levels, Bohr model, hydrogen spectrum.

Chapter 9 The Electronic Devices

• Semiconductor diode –the  I to V characteristics in reserved and forward bias diodes as rectifiers.

Chapter 10 The Communication Systems

• Elements of a communication system that is the block diagram only; bandwidth of signals for the TV, speech and digital data, the bandwidth of medium of transmission.
