Who is Cristiano Ronaldo?

Cristiano Ronaldo is a football player. He has played for the Portuguese National Team,  Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus clubs. He is one of the most famous personalities in the world of sports. The full name of this star athlete is Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro. He was born in Portugal. This star player has won many accolades including five Ballon d'Or awards and four European Golden Shoes, which is the most of any European football player. He is considered among the world's best players, he signed a deal with Manchester United in 2003 when he was only 16 years old. He was paid over $14 million U.S. dollars by Manchester United, a record fee for a player of his age. 

Soon after joining the big franchise, he won the 2004 FA Cup final. In this match Ronaldo scored Manchester's first three goals, these goals were critical for the win. Again in 2008, he set the record for scoring goals. He led the national team of Portugal in the 2016 European Championship, during which Portugal won the championship, this was considered to be a very emotional win as he was born in Portugal. In 2018 he took off his career into a new direction by signing the deal to play for the Italian Serie A club Juventus.

In 2003 at the age of 16 Ronaldo signed the deal with Manchester United for over fourteen million dollars. In 2005 while playing for Manchester United his father died due to prolonged alcoholism and some other fatal complications. This was particularly hard for the young Ronaldo as he was very close with his father. Football Career at Different Clubs

Sporting CP

Ronaldo started his career as a football player by officially playing for Sporting CP.  László Bölöni, the manager of the tweak signed Roandlo for the club at the age of 16. He was the only player to play for the club's under-16, under-17 and under-18 teams, the B team, and the first team, all within a single season. He then debuted to the  Primeira Liga, against Braga and won the match by scoring 2 goals against the Moreirense in their 3–0 win in 2002. Seeing his impressive performance at the match he was then urgently signed by the club of Manchester United in 2003. 

Manchester United

After watching his performance in 2002 he was signed by the Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson in August 2003. He made the deal of 14 million US dollars, at the time he was the most expensive English football player. He was also the first Portuguese player to play for the club. Ronaldo played for the club from 2003 to 2007. He scored the first three winning goals in the 2004 FA Cup final, which led to the winning of United in the championship. In 2007 Ronaldo signed a 31 million euro contract. In 2008 he established a franchise record for the maximum goals scored  that is 42, because of it he earned the FIFA World Player of the Year honour for 2008

Real Madrid

In 2009 the star football player left United Manchester to play with the club of Real Madrid. He was signed for $131 million US dollars. The contract ran until 2015, was worth €11 million per year and had a one billion dollar back out clause. Ronaldo made his debut at the  La Liga on 29 August 2009, against Deportivo La Coruña, he scored at the penalty spot and won the match by 3-2. 

 He scored four goals in a single match during a 6–1 rout against Racing Santander on 23 October. Juventus

In July 2018 Ronaldo departed from the Spanish football club of Real Madrid. He was paid a 140 million US Dollars transfer fee to his old Spanish club. He expressed his gratitude and respect for the team and city in an open letter to the fans. He had a successful debut at the Juventus club. He scored 10  goals in the first 14 games that he played. Portugal National Team

He joined the team representing his country in 2007. In 2016 under his captaincy, Portugal won the  European Championship final against France. For many, it was considered as one of the most emotional victories of the footballer. In 2018 Ronaldo got off a good start in the world cup. He scored home three goals in an opening draw vs. Spain, before adding another vs. Morocco he set the European record with his 85th international goal. However, they lost against Uruguay by 2-1 in that year.

He is among the few footballers who have agreed to the pay cut in the months of March to June during the Covid pandemic. He donated one million Euros to hospitals in Portugal for the supply of beds, ventilators, fans, and infusion pumps. He donated £100,000 to the hospital to open a cancer research and treatment branch in his hometown. He was also associated with the charitable work of reconstruction and rehabilitation of those who suffered in the 2010 Madeira flood. 

In  December 2012, Ronaldo joined FIFA's "11 for Health" programme to raise awareness among children about AIDS and drug abuse. In January 2013 he was nominated as the Save the Children's new Global Artist Ambassador. He also donated to the earthquake relief fund of 2015 in Nepal.
