The supreme Korean leader Kim Jong-un's sister's name is Kim Yo Jong, and she is a high-ranking official in the Workers' Party of Korea. She was also an alternate member of the Workers' Party of Korea's Politburo from 2017 to 2019, and again from 2020 to 2021.

Kim Yo Jong is North Korean leader Kim Jong un's sister. She joined the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) in 2007 and later served as Kim Jong-il's secretariat until his death in 2011. Under her brother's tenure, Kim Yo-jong rose through the ranks of her party, becoming the first vice-department director of the Propaganda and Agitation Department and eventually an alternate member of the WPK's influential politburo. Kim accompanied her brother for his disarmament summits with US President Donald Trump after a highly publicised attendance at the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Early Life and Education

Kim Yo-jong's birthdate is listed as September 26, 1987, As of 2021, Kim Yo Jong age is 34.  She grew up with her two older brothers at her mother's home on Ch'angkwang Hill in central Pyongyang. The family would celebrate her birthdays at another home in Wonsan, according to family chef Kenji Fujimoto.

Kim moved to Switzerland to further her schooling in 1996. She started at Liebefeld Hessgut public school and later transferred to Liebefeld-Steinhölzli public school, where she was joined by Kim Jong-un, who entered under a pseudonym. Despite living with an aunt and uncle and having a crew of housekeepers and bodyguards to look after them, the brothers' time overseas was stated to be an isolated experience that brought them closer together.

Kim Yo-jong is the youngest daughter of North Korea's second leader, Kim Jong-il, and his Japanese Korean dancer consort Ko Yong-hui. Kim Jong un's older brother, Kim Jong-Chul, was born to the couple, and Kim Yo-jong also has a half-sister, Kim Sol-song. Kim Jong-Nam, another half-brother, was assassinated in Malaysia in 2017, allegedly on the orders of the Supreme Leader.
