This article will study Lisa Marie Presley’s spouse, Lisa Marie Presley’s children, and her career in detail.

Lisa Marie Presley Early Life

  • Lisa Presley was born on February 1, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Elvis Presley and his wife, Priscilla. Presley relocated to Los Angeles, California, with her mother. Despite the fact that her parents were divorced, she continued to see both of them, dividing her time between Los Angeles and Memphis.

  • Lisa Presley's father died of an apparent heart failure related to prescription drug misuse when she was nine years old. Presley, at nine years old, became a joint heir to her father's fortune with her grandfather Vernon Elvis Presley and great-grandmother Minnie Mae Hood Presley when he died in August 1977. She became the sole heir and inherited Graceland after Vernon's death in 1979 and Minnie Mae's death in 1980. She inherited the wealth, which had risen to an estimated $100 million, on her 25th birthday in 1993. Presley sold 85 percent of her father's fortune in 2004.

  • She went to her first rock concert in the late 1970s, a year or two after her father died, when she watched Queen at The Forum in Inglewood, California. After the event, she offered Freddie Mercury a scarf from her father and conveyed her admiration for theatrics.

  • When she was four years old, her parents divorced. When her father died, Lisa was nine years old, and she was one of the first persons to discover him lifeless on the bathroom floor of her home, Graceland.

Personal Life

Lisa Marie Presley Spouse

Presley was transferred to the Celebrity Center, a Scientology recovery facility when he was 17 years old. Presley met rock 'n' roll guitarist Danny Keough at this facility. On October 3, 1988, Presley and Keough married. Danielle Riley, a daughter, and Benjamin Riley, a son, were born to the couple. (Benjamin died in an apparent suicide in July 2020.)

After six years of marriage, Presley and Keough separated in 1994. Presley married Jackson only 20 days after her divorce from Keough was finalised. After only four months of dating, Jackson allegedly proposed over the phone. However, Presley and Jackson's marriage was short-lived, and Presley filed for divorce from Jackson in January 1996. She met Cage in 2000 while engaged to musician John Oszajca. She quickly called off her engagement to Oszajca in order to date Cage. The pair married on August 10, 2002.

Music Career

  • To Whom It May Concern, Presley's debut album was released on April 8, 2003. It was certified gold in June 2003 after reaching No. 5 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Presley co-authored every melody and composed all of the lyrics (save "The Road Between," which he co-wrote with Gus Black). She held a concert in the United Kingdom to promote it. "Lights Out," the album's first single, peaked at No. 18 on the Billboard Hot Adult Top 40 chart and No. 16 in the UK. The Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan collaborated with Presley on a co-written piece called "Savior," which was included as the B-side.

  • Presley's debut album was reviewed by Robert Hilburn of the Los Angeles Times. "Her new album's music has a sharp, uncompromising tone," he observed, adding that "Presley's strong blues-edged voice has a special flair."

  • Now What, her second album, debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 albums chart on April 5, 2005. Presley co-wrote ten songs and covered Don Henley's "Dirty Laundry" (the album's first single, which reached No. 36 on the Billboard 100 AC singles chart) and the Ramones' "Here Today and Gone Tomorrow" for the album.

  • Storm & Grace, her third album, was released on May 15, 2012. T Bone Burnett, an Oscar and Grammy winner, produced the album, which she described as "far more of a rootsy record, organic sound" than her prior efforts.

  • "On her first two albums, Lisa Marie Presley wanted to be a pop star with a difference; on Storm & Grace, she clearly wants to be an artist, and if she's still working out her musical shortcomings, this is a stronger, more mature, and more effective work than one may have expected."

  • "In the upcoming Storm & Grace," according to Spinner.com, "Presley has crafted the strongest album of her career, exploring the demons and angels of her life to the tune of country-spiced downbeat pop." Entertainment Weekly commended the "smoky, eerie" single "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet."

Collaborations

  • On May 22, 2003, Pat Benatar and Lisa Marie Presley performed at the VH1 Divas Duets performance at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas to benefit the VH1 Save the Music Foundation. They sang Benatar's hit "Heartbreaker" together, which Presley later sang at her own shows on tour.

  • Presley also contributed a rendition of "Silent Night" to the NBC Holiday Collection, Sounds of the Season, in 2003. Kylie Minogue, Coldplay, Michael Bublé, Carly Simon, and Bonnie Raitt are among the other performers featured on the album.

  • Too Tough to Die: A Tribute to Johnny Ramone, a documentary about Johnny Ramone of the rock band the Ramones, was published in 2006. Deborah Harry, The Dickies, X, Eddie Vedder, Lisa Marie, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers star in Mandy Stein's film, which follows them as they stage a benefit performance to commemorate the Ramones' 30th anniversary and raise money for cancer research.

  • The single "In the Ghetto" was released in August 2007. The record was first released by Elvis Presley in 1969. Lisa "duets" with her father in the updated version.

  • Lisa Marie stated that she had made the decision to not only sing but to sing with him. She told Spinner, "I wanted to use this for something good," so she shot the video in New Orleans. The video and single's proceeds go to a new Presley Place Transitional Housing Campus in Memphis. Lisa Marie sang the song with the Harlem Gospel Choir on The Oprah Winfrey Show, utilizing a vintage video of her father.

  • She performed on stage with singer Richard Hawley in London in October 2009. She recorded vocals on "Weary," a song the two had been working on. Hawley wants to help Presley relaunch her career in music, so the two have formed a songwriting relationship in which Lisa provides the lyrics, and Hawley writes the music. Presley stated in an interview with Oprah Winfrey that she was currently recording a new album in London, which she planned to release in 2011.

Charity Work and Humanitarian Efforts

Graceland/Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. established the Elvis Presley Charitable Foundation (EPCF) in 1984 to honour Elvis Presley's legacy of giving and community involvement. Lisa Marie Presley, the EPCF's chairman, and the Graceland/Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. management team supervise the EPCF. Presley Place welcomed its first inhabitants in 2001. Presley Place offers homeless families up to a year of rent-free accommodation, child daycare, career and financial counselling, family management advice, and other services to help them break the cycle of poverty and reclaim their self-esteem and independence.

The Elvis Presley Music Room, which is also financed by the EPCF, provides access to musical instruments and instruction, as well as participation in special related programs, to the children of Presley Place and others. The EPCF established the Elvis Presley Endowed Scholarship Fund at the University of Memphis' College of Communication and Fine Arts to help students studying in the arts. "Everyone at the EPCF and Elvis Presley Enterprises is immensely pleased with this amazing facility," Presley said. "MIFA's (Memphis-based Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association) work has a real impact on people's lives, and we're excited to partner with them."

Governor Bill Haslam of Tennessee, who designated a day of commemoration for Presley's charity endeavours, honoured her on June 24, 2011. The Mayor of New Orleans, Mitchell J. Landrieu, presented her with a Certificate of Proclamation two days later in honour of her dedication and accomplishments to the city.

On June 28, 2011, the City of Memphis issued a proclamation that stated:
