His parents, Roberta Shields and Wayne Brian Bridges had a divorce while he was still young, however, even after his parents split, he remained close to both his mother and father. At the age of 12 ludicrous moved to Atlanta with his mother. Ludacris showed interest in rap and hip-hop culture from a very young age, before moving to Atlanta, Ludacris was a part of a children's rapping group called the loudmouth hooligans. 


Ludacris faced a struggle in his teenage years however, he credits his mother for constantly staying strict with him and ensuring that he performs well at school. Ludacris came from a family with a strong educational background, hence Ludacris left no stone unturned in the field of education. He graduated from Banneker High School in 1995. By now, Ludacris was clear about his ambition and hence decided to specialize in music. As a result, he specialized in music management from Georgia State University from 1998 to 1999, after which he left behind Georgia and headed to Los Angeles to fulfil his dreams. Ludacris as a child was always ambitious and wished to make it big in Hollywood. 


Ludacris' father sensed his deep passion towards music and hence from the tender age of 12, he exposed Ludacris to different genres of music. He had always been attracted by the glamorous life of Hollywood. Ludacris first tasted stardom at the age of 21, in the year 1998. He played a guest verse in Timberlands debut album- Tim's bio, life from da basement- the track rhymes with the track "phat rabbit". Simultaneously, Ludacris was also recording his debut album, incognegro which was originally produced by Jermaine Dupri, Bangladesh, and Organized Noize. The album was then released independently in May 2000.

Ludacris age is currently 43 years, he resides in the capital of Hollywood, Los Angeles along with his family. According to sources, his mother continues to reside in Illinois State and he seldom visits her. Although he's been an American since birth, his ethnicity is African American, he was once listed as one of the most popular African American men in the United States of America. On the height scale he notches up to 5 feet 8 inches and his zodiac sign is Virgo. 


The Career of Ludacris as a Great American Rapper 

Ludacris songs were once the most heard songs in all of America. Teenagers were crazy about the rap songs produced by Ludacris. He marked the inception of a wave of pop culture in America among the millennial generation. Before the release of his first official album, Ludacris worked as a disc jockey. However, after the release of his first album phat rabbit which went on to become a super hit, he quit his role as a disc jockey and became a full-time music maker. At the beginning of his career, he worked with co-artists like Dallas Austin and Jermaine Dupri.


Although phat rabbit was a huge hit, the best was yet to come for Ludacris. Ludacris got his first breakthrough in the year 2000 when he released his major-label debut ‘Back for the First Time’. The album consisted of 2 songs that went onto becoming highly popular, namely, ‘Southern Hospitality’ and ‘What’s Your Fantasy'. The album as a whole was a giant leap in his career and helped him launch himself as a celebrity rapper in all of America.


This was not Ludacris' best-selling album. The much-celebrated success of ‘Back for the First Time’ motivated him to work on another album almost immediately. As a result, he released his best-selling album. ‘Word of Mouf’ (2001). The album debuted at rank 3 on the Billboard chart of top 200 and the album also went on to attain the multi-platinum certification. 


Further, in 2003, Ludacris released his next album "chicken-n-beer". Although this album gained quick popularity as it brought in a transition in American music by introducing pop culture and wild music. In Spite of gaining fame, the album landed the rapper into a great controversy. The album received resilience due to its highly sexual content which the orthodox American population did not appreciate. Despite the controversy, the album went on to become a bestseller among the young American population. 


After getting out of the controversy, Ludacris decided to adopt a more mature ideology that wouldn't land him into further controversies. He produced his next music album in 2004. It was called ‘The Red Light District’. The album had been made with a more mature approach by keeping the different sects of the society in mind. To his fortune, the album debuted at number 1 on the Billboard of the top 200 albums and went on to become one of the all-time classic hits. 


Another super hit album that Ludacris released was Release Therapy’ (2006). By now, being number 1 had become a habit for Ludacris and the album was another addition to a few of his mega hits. The album debuted at number 1 once again and boosted the fame of the rapper further. 


The Personal Life of Ludacris

Ludacris married recently in the year 2020 when he tied knots with eudoxie mbouguiengue and also has a daughter from his previous relationship. He looks after his daughter and Is believed to be a responsible father. Ludacris has often landed in several controversies in the Hollywood industry. This is because of the excessive use of sexually explicit and violent content in his songs. Although he's a feminist, his songs are believed to promote violent behaviour which has many a time been criticized by a few Americans.

Ludacris during the prime of his career was recognized as one of the best rappers in the world. He has received several awards. He has five BET awards to his name of which two of them are for the best male hip hop artist in 2002 and 2005 respectively. He also has won three prestigious Grammy awards, two of which he won in the year 2007 for the best rap song (moneymaker) and the best rap album ‘Release Therapy’.
