Sia Furler is a singer, songwriter, voice actress, and director from Australia. In the mid-1990s, she began her career as a singer in the acid jazz band Crisp in Adelaide. Crisp dissolved in 1997, and she released her debut studio album, OnlySee, in Australia. She relocated to London and became a member of the British duet Zero 7.

Sia Kate Isobelle Furler (sia singer) was born in Adelaide, South Australia, on December 18, 1975. Phil Colson, her father, is a musician, and Loene Furler, her mother, is an art lecturer. Kevin Colson's niece, Sia, is an actress and singer. Sia mentions Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, and Sting as early influences, saying that she copied their performing styles as a child. Adelaide High School was her alma mater. Sia began her career as a singer in the local acid jazz band Crisp in the mid-1990s. • She also toured with English downtempo band Zero 7 and performed vocals on their first three studio albums.

• She sang backup vocals for Zero 7 on "Somersault" and "Speed Dial No. 2" in 2004. (from the album When It Falls). Sia collaborated with Zero 7 once more in 2006 for the group's third album, The Garden, and is thus considered as the group's "unofficial" lead singer.

• Sia signed a recording contract with Sony Music's Dance Pool sub-label in 2000, and her first track, "Taken for Granted," reached No. 10 on the UK Singles Chart.

Four singles were released from Some People Have Real Problems, including "The Girl You Lost to Cocaine." Sia "has long been a proponent of animal rights." She has taken part in initiatives to encourage people to spay or neuter their dogs and to resist large-scale pet breeding. In 2013, she sang "I'm in Here" at the Beagle Freedom Project Gala, and in 2015, she penned "Free the Animal" for public service commercials promoting "cruelty-free fashion." Sia teamed with numerous rescue organisations for her 2016 Nostalgic for the Present Tour, including a dog adoption fair at each of her shows. She made a new public service announcement in 2017 to promote pet adoption. Dominion, an animal rights documentary, has her as a narrator.

• Sia's name may be the shortest in show business, but it is far longer in reality. Sia's real name is Sia Kate Isobelle Furler.

• She's also a talented songwriter and director of music videos. “People call me for the ballads,” she admits, claiming that songwriting is maybe her deepest passion. That seems to be where I've been labelled. But it's fascinating and entertaining. Writing is my favourite aspect of the job.”

• Sia has had a tumultuous history. Dan, her lover at the time, was killed in a vehicle accident in London in 1997.

• Sia admitted that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in an interview with OK! Magazine.
