Who was Ip Man?

Yip Man, or master Ip Man, was the most famous martial artist in teaching the form of Wing Chun. One of his students was the Kung Fu Master and the iconic bruce lee master. Ip Man is sometimes referred to as Ip Man. He was born on October 1, 1893, and died on December 2, 1972. He was born Ip (Yip) OiDor and NgShui and was the third child in a family of children. He grew up in a very wealthy family in Foshan, Guangdong Province, China, and received a very high standard of education. His older brother is Ip Kai Gak. His sister is Ip Wan Mei and his sister is Ip Wan Hum. Ip is the first name mentioned in Chinese culture. 

Yip Caiman was one of the first masters or mentors to openly teach the Chinese martial art of Wing Chun1. He had several students, including Bruce Lee, who later became martial arts instructors.

Ip Man Real Early Life

Also known as Ip Man, Ip Man was born on October 1, 1893, in Foshan, China as Ip Kaiman (or Ip Kaiman). He is the third child in a family of four and was raised by wealthy parents Ip OiDor and Ng Shui. 

Political turmoil is the background of youth, but at the age of 12, he continued with his traditional education until he could begin to research the art system Wingtuna martial arts, which was developed in southern China over 300 years ago. Chan Wah Shun, who billed him exorbitantly for the service, initially believed it would put the boy off. But the man would learn much from his master in the three years leading up to Wau Shun's death. 

At the age of 15, Mann moved to Hong Kong and later attended St Stephen's College. During his time in Hong Kong, he also continued to practice martial arts. The man eventually returned to Foshan at the age of 24 and was hired as a policeman. At this point, his Wing Chun skills were as if he could have started a private lesson.  When the Communist Party of China came to power in 1949, Mann fled to Hong Kong, where he opened a Wing Chun school, charged his services, and became the first martial artist to publicly train students. One of Mann's most prominent students was Bruce Lee, who studied with the Master in 1953. At the age of 13, Lee was an excellent, enthusiastic student and became proficient in the martial art of Wing Chun. Later, Lee Seung-yuop will visit Ip Man as a friend.


Personal Life, Later Years and Legacy

IP man wife: Ip Man is married to Cheung Wing Sing and the couple has two children, Ip Chun and Ip Chin. Both are martial arts experts. Little is known about his daughter, whose names are said to be Yip Ar Sum and Yip Ar Woon. 

While in Foshan, Ip Man met Yuen Keishan and became friends, even though they belonged to different Wing Chun denominations. Ip Man and Yuen Keishan became very intimate, teaching Ip Man and having Yun Keishan teach his son Ip Chun. In late 1949, the Chinese Communist Party won the Chinese Civil War. Ip Man, an officer of the opposition Kuomintang party, decided to flee to Hong Kong without his family when the Communists arrived in Foshan. In Hong Kong, Ip Man opened a Wing Chun martial arts school. 

In the beginning, his activities are rare, his pupils often only staying a few months. He transferred schools twice to Huitan Road from Sham Shui Po and then to Ritat Road from Yau Ma Tei. At that time, some of his students were qualified enough to start their own school. 

The followers of Ip Man and some of their descendants have compared their skills to other martial arts in combat. Initially, many were defeated, but before Ip Man's death, their victories over other martial arts helped build Ip Man's reputation as a teacher.

In 1972, Ip Man contracted cancer and then died on December 2 of the same year. About six weeks before his death, he asked his two sons and pupil, Lau Hon Lam, to film him using the Wing Chun system for training. It only supports SilLim Tau, Chum Kiu, and Dummy forms. Since his death, many works have been produced in his life, including the 2001 book "Ip Ching: Portrait of Kung Fu Master by Ip Ching and Ron Heinberger" and the movie "The Birth of Yip Man". : Ip Man (released in 2010) and Grandmaster and Ip Man: The last war of 2013.

Ip man died of laryngeal cancer on December 2, 1972, in his unit at 149 Tung Choi Street, Hong Kong, just seven months before the death of his most famous student, Bruce Lee. He was buried in a Japanese stone in Hong Kong. The legacy of intellectual property is the Wing Chun practice all over the world.
