Revision Tips for JEE Main and JEE Advanced

  • Goal Setting

For any exam preparation, it is important to keep some time aside for thorough revision. It is recommended to keep a minimum of 30 days aside for revision of JEE Main and JEE Advanced. This will not only help you in proper revision but also give time to work on your weakest topic. Therefore, helping you to build that confidence. Hence, plan your time table for preparation for the exam accordingly.

  • Plan your Revision Strategy

By the time you have reached the revision stage, you might have an idea of which topic has the most weightage. Therefore, start your revision with those topics which carry the most weightage in the exam. Then move on to the lesser weightage topics.

  • Practice and Analyse Past Exam Papers

Everyone should do the practicing and analyzing past papers. Solve the previous papers, as if you are giving the real exam. This will help you to understand the format and difficulty level of the exam. Moreover, it will also help you to understand the concept of time management. Therefore, solve a minimum of 10-15 past papers of JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Don’t just solve the papers. After you have solved the paper, make sure to analyze each and every question. This will help you in understanding your weak area. Once you have understood your weak points, focus on it. So, analyzing solved paper is also important.

  • Mock Tests

There are a lot of mock tests available online. Technically, you should start taking mock tests the moment you start your preparation for the exam. By the time you reach the revision stage, make sure to increase the number of mock tests attempt per day and the difficulty level. After each mock exam, keep a dedicated time for analyzing your performance. This will also help you to understand your weakness. Also, keep in mind to choose the best JEE Main and JEE Advanced mock test series for practice.

  • Say No to New Concepts

It is your responsibility to cover all the topics before you reach the revision stage. You should never study a new concept once you start revising the syllabus. This will only lead to confusion and a waste of time. So, during revision, go through the topics you have learned in the past few months.

  • Know your Formulae

It is a known fact that the JEE Main and JEE Advanced exams consist of a lot of formulae. Be it Physics, Chemistry, or Mathematics, every subject has formulae. Make sure you are clear about each formula and also understand its application. You should be able to remember the formula at ease by the time you take the actual exam. In this way, you won’t waste your time remembering formulae.

  • Watch Videos on IIT Website

There are a lot of lecture videos by professors available on the official IIT website. This will give you a better picture of the exam.

Extra Revision Tips for JEE Advanced.

  1. Studying physics can be relatively confusing. You need to apply many concepts to solve a single question. Moreover, it involves formulae. So, write down all the formulae on a paper and stick it on the board or wall in front of your study desk. Make sure by the time you start your revision; you have memorized all the formulae. Also, understand how each formula is interdependent on one another. Moreover, physics requires a systematic study plan.

  2. Studying chemistry is also about memorizing formulae, the reaction of each chemical and color obtained after mixing of chemicals or of each compound. To make memorizing easier, write down the formulae or compound or the result of a reaction using the corresponding colored pen. You can write this on a chart or a paper and stick it on a wall or board. Go through this every day before you go to bed and after you wake up in the morning. This will create a pictorial representation in your mind. Make sure to give extra attention to Inorganic Chemistry. Especially, concentrate on p-block elements.

  3. When it comes to mathematics, it’s all about practicing problems daily. Make sure to be thorough with geometry related formulae as this will help you in saving time during the exam. You can keep a formula book dedicated to Mathematics. Keep revising a set of formulae every day. Also, do not memorize methods in Mathematics. Understand the logic of each formula and its application. This will help in the easy solving of papers.
