For instance, a good temperature, sources of energy in the form of food, and water. These are the resources which make life on the planet earth possible. And hence it is important for the students of science to learn about these resources. Therefore, chapter 14 of the NCERT class 9 discusses these natural resources.

Below are the main points discussed in the chapter:

Air: Air which is a mixture of the Nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, and water vapour, is one of the most important natural resources of the earth, which enables the living organisms.

Rain: During the day, the water in the ocean gets heated, due to which water evaporates and goes into the air, and turns into the clouds. As it rises up and up the atmosphere cools it down, and the clouds become heavy; lastly, it falls in the form of rain. Rain provides water to all the living creatures.

Water: Water is the essential resource without which life is not possible. A large portion of the Earth’s surface is covered in water, which provides life to everyone.

Minerals in soil: The soil plays an important role in diversity of the life present on the planet earth. The minerals which are present in the crust of the soil, that is to say, the outermost layer of the soil provides life to many living organisms, because if these minerals were found in huge solid rocks, instead inside the crust of the soil, then life for such organisms would be impossible.
