MHT CET Eligibility Criteria 2023-24

All the students who are aspiring to fulfill their dreams in the field of engineering should read this article to understand the eligibility marks for engineering admission and MH/MHT CET eligibility criteria in the states of Maharashtra. The State Common Entrance Test Cell of Mumbai organizes the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test or MHT CET (MH CET). All the candidates who are interested in entering into the field of Agriculture, Engineering & Technology (BE/BTech), and Pharmacy (B. Pharm. /Pharm. D.) courses in Maharashtra.

The authorities conduct the online examination at various institutions all over Maharashtra between the 16 April to 30 April, 2024, for P.C.M. and P.C.B. group. Exam will be conducted in two shifts 09:00 am to 12:00 noon and 02:00 pm to 05:00 pm and exam time duration is of 3 hours. The students need to keep the eligibility for the CET Exam in mind during the time of preparation. 

The MH/MHT CET examination is based on a multiple-choice question format consisting of 3 papers, i.e., Paper 1 is Math, Paper 2 is a combination of Physics & Chemistry, and Paper 3 is based on Botany and Zoology. It is also important to remember the eligibility criteria for engineering after 12th. The examination provides scope to enter into the Institutions and colleges available within Maharashtra. This article will give an outlook to all the students regarding the eligibility criteria for engineering admission.

MHT CET Eligibility Criteria:

The MHT CET for engineering is quite a fruitful examination for all the students. Being  a competitive entrance examination, eligibility for engineering is something significant to note. All the students who have cleared/passed their senior high school can start preparing for this exam. In the private unaided engineering institutes of Maharashtra, almost 85 percent of the seats will be allotted through MHT CET, whereas 15 percent of seats will be granted for all the students who appear for the All India Quota, based on MHT/MH CET eligibility.

All the students from the State of Maharashtra State or All India with Minority, NRI, or Foreign citizenship can apply for this examination. The students who belong from Jammu and Kashmir can also apply for this examination. All the students who have cleared their Class 12 will be eligible to apply for this test. There is no age limit for applying to this exam.

It is essential for the students who wish to apply for this test to have the following:

• Math and Physics as mandatory subjects with either one from Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Vocational or Technical subjects. 

• An aggregate of 50 per cent for the general category and 45 percent for SC, ST, and OBC category in the senior secondary examination is mandatory.

Eligibility Criteria for Engineering Admission:

All the aspiring students can go through the following eligibility criteria for engineering after 12th to enter into MH CET:

• All the students should be of Indian origin.

• Passing or appearing in Higher Secondary or Class XII from Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination is mandatory

• Students can have Chemistry or Biology or Biotechnology or Vocational or Technical subjects.

• Securing the required percentage based on the MH CET eligibility.

• No age limit is applicable in MH CET.  

• The specially-abled students are eligible to apply in MH CET under the seats reserved for Persons with Disabilities between the category P1 to P3 provided a certificate is submitted by the students specifying the extent of their disabilities.

Procedure to Fill MHT CET Application Form 2024:

The students can now avail the MHT CET Application Form available on the official website from the 16th January to 1st March 2024. The students should ensure that the following details are noted during the time of applying for this test:

• Recent color photographs between 15 KB and 50 KB in jpeg or jpg format and named as photo.jpg.

• A Signature signed in black ink on a white paper between 5 KB and 20 KB in jpeg/jpg format and named as “sign.jpg.”. The students should note that the signature should not contain any capital letters. 

• A government photo identity proof between 15 KB and 256 KB in the format of PDF is also required. 

To register, all the students should create their profile on the official website. They can download the form, fill it, and submit the required details in the form along with the required documents. You are also required to upload all necessary proof, photograph and signature as per the MH CET eligibility criteria to register.  

Once all the details are fed into the system, the students should pay for the Application (Application fee) through various modes of payment like debit/credit card (RuPay/Visa/MasterCard/Maestro) or Online/ net banking mode or IMPS. Cash cards and mobile wallets are also accepted. After payment, they have to submit the form and take a print out of the receipt, i.e., the confirmation page. The students can also download the admit card for the examination from the official website. 

The eligibility criteria for engineering admission in MH CET do not provide the scope of correction or return/refund of the application fee. A new application has to be filled by the students in case of any error. Therefore, it is imperative to fill the Application form with full concentration. 

Vital Instructions for MHT CET 2024 Candidates:

Below are a few guidelines for the students for MHT CET 2024 students:

• Know the exam pattern and the syllabus.

• The MHT CET exam will be conducted for 180 minutes.

• 150 questions will be asked.

• The question pattern comes in the ‘MCQ’ format.

• Plan wisely and beforehand to prepare for the exam.

• One mark will be allotted for each question asked from Physics, Chemistry, Biology.

• One mark will be allotted for each question asked from Math.

• No negative marking.

• Time management is important.

The MH CET is a competitive exam and the MH CET eligibility is essential for any engineering aspirant student who wishes to pursue a degree in engineering from Maharashtra in 2024. Students must prepare well before appearing in the exam.
