The full meaning of cpt is the Common Proficiency Test. This is an entry-level test conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants for entrance to the coveted CA courses across the country. The CPT test has been recently changed to the CA foundation test under ICFAI’s revised guidelines.
Anybody can register for the ICFAI CPT test after completing Class X and take the exam after passing out in Class XII. Earlier the examination used to be an objective one but now it has been replaced by a blend of both subjective and objective papers.
Registration and Eligibility Criteria for CPT
As pointed out earlier, a student can register for the CPT test after Class X. However, he can sit for the exam only after clearing his Class XII exams. Students registering between 1st April can sit for the upcoming exams in June. Students while registration up to 1st Oct but after April 1st can appear for the December slot.
A student seeking admission to the CPT course needs to fill out an application form. He can download the application form online and submit after remitting Rs 100. Alternatively, the application form can be found in the prospectus itself after depositing the required fees offline.
The registration and tuition fees amount to Rs 6000 that needs to be submitted along with the application form. A copy of the prospectus and the study materials will be dispatched to the students. The initial registration for CPT is valid for 3 years and you can renew it for Rs 300.
The Registration Form Should Contain the Following Items:
Proof of date of birth
Class X mark sheet, admit card and pass certificate duly attested by a gazette officer or head of your institute

Syllabus for CPT Exam
