FAQs on ICSE Class 10 Mathematics Revision Notes Chapter 19 - Constructions
1. Following concepts learnt in Chapter 19 of ICSE Class 10 Maths, construct triangle ABC, having given = 12 cm, BC= 8 cm and AC = 10 cm
(ii) Inscribe a circle in the ∆ ABC constructed in (i) above, theme
(image will be uploaded soon)
Steps of Construction:
(i) Draw a line segment BC = 7 cm.
(ii) At B, draw a ray BX making an angle of 45° and cut off BE = AB – AC = 1 cm.
(iii) Join EC and draw the perpendicular bisector of EC intersecting BX at A.
(iv) Join AC
∆ ABC is the required triangle.
(v) Draw angle bisectors of ∠ABC and ∠ACB intersecting each other at O.
(vi) From O, draw perpendicular OL to BC.
(vii) O as centre and OL as radius draw circle which touches the sides of the A ABC. This is the required in-circle of ∆ ABC.
On measuring radius OL = 1.8 cm (approx.).
2. Following concepts learnt in Chapter 19 of ICSE Class 10 Maths, solve the following:
i) Using ruler and compasses only, construct a triangle ABC in which AB = 8 cm, BC = 6 cm and CA = 5 cm.
ii) Find its incenter and mark it I.
iii) With I as the center, draw a circle that will cut off 2 cm chords from each side of the triangle.

The construction process is as follows:
The segment BC lies at a distance of 6 cm.
Draw an arc with a radius of 8 cm and a centre B.
Create an arc with a radius of 5 cm with a centre C that intersects the first arc at A.
Finally, joining AB and AC.
The triangle required is *ABC.
v) Draw the angle bisectors of ∠B and ∠A that intersect at I. The intersection at I is the centre of the triangle ABC.
Then, through I, add ID and AB.
In Step 5, take DP = DQ = 2/2 = 1 cm from D
viii) With center I, and radius IP or IQ, draw a circle that will intersect each side of the triangle ABC cutting cords of 2 cm each.
