Some Sample Questions and Answers

1: A ball is thrown vertically upwards. It goes to the height of 40 m and returns to the ground. Taking g = 10 ms2.Find:

  1. The initial velocity of the ball

  2.  The final velocity of the ball

  3. The total journey of the ball

Our faculties concisely explained this question.

Given: h = 20 m, g = 10 ms2, v = 0

To find - Initial velocity (u),

Final velocity (v), and

Time (t)

Solution:

(a) Initial velocity

 Using the third equation of motion:

V2 = u2 + 2ah

Here,  a = g because the ball falls freely under Gravity.

V2 = u2 + 2gh

0 = u2 +2 x 10 x 20

U = - \[\sqrt{400}\] = -20 m/s

The negative sign indicates that motion is against Gravity.

(b) Final velocity

When the ball is coming down from the highest point. Then its final velocity is:

u = 0, h = 20 m, g = 10ms2

As V2 = u2 + 2ah

V2- u2 = 2ah

V2 - 0 = 2 x 10 x 20

\[\Rightarrow v = \sqrt{2}\times 10\times 20 = 20 m/s\]

(c) Total journey (Total time)

2u = g x t = t = 2u/ g

T = \[\frac{2\times 20}{10}\] = 4s

Q2: How is the gravitational force between two bodies affected if the separation between them is doubled?

Our faculties explained this question in the following way:

Solution: If the distance between two mass m and m doubles, then force reduces to 1/4th of its original value, i.e.,

If  \[F \propto \frac{1}{r^{2}}\] ….(1)

Then, \[F \propto \frac{1}{2r^{2}}\]

\[\Rightarrow F \propto \frac{1}{r^{2}}\]…(2)

Now, (2) ÷ (1)

\[\frac{F{}'}{F} = \frac{r^{2}}{4r^{2}} = \frac{1}{4}\]

= F' = F/4

We see that the new value F’ is ¼ of F.

5. What are the three Newton's Laws and how should I study them with the help of Selina Concise Physics Class 9 ICSE Solutions for Chapter 3 - Laws of Motion?

The three Laws of Newton's Laws of Motion are old-style mechanics that portray the connection between the movement of an item and the powers following up on it. These Laws can be reworded as follows:

Law 1. A body proceeds in its condition of rest, or in uniform Motion in an orderly fashion except if followed up on by power.

Law 2. A body followed up on by power moves in such a way that the time pace of progress of energy rises to the power.

Law 3. In case two bodies apply powers on one another, these powers are equivalent in size and inverse in bearing.

A student can sit for the live sessions conducted by the experts in Physics at Vedantu and can look for a deeper explanation understanding with practicals beginning performed live in the app.

6. What are the topics covered in Selina Concise Physics Class 9 ICSE Solutions for Chapter 3 - Laws of Motion?

The third Chapter consists of three Laws given by Newton which are as follows

The three Laws of the movement were first expressed by Isaac Newton in Philosophy Naturalis Principia Mathematica (Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy), first distributed in 1687. Newton utilized them to clarify and research the movement of numerous actual items and frameworks, which established the framework for Newtonian mechanics.

students through this section find out with regards to the 3 major Laws of movement proposed by Newton. The section begins with preparation about the two powers to be specific contact and non-contact powers, Examining the different kinds of powers under each alongside appropriate models.

It then, at that point, progresses towards the First Law of movement wherein the subject is talked about subjectively clarified through the ideas of mass and idleness. students are then furnished with data on the straight energy and the idea of the progress of force, before long which Newton's second Law of movement alongside the determination is Examined.

Finally, Newton's third Law of movement delineates the meaning of activity and response and how the guideline is applied in different fields today. Attractive energy is one more significant idea that is talked about alongside induction and its connection to ideas, for Example, power because of gravity and speed increase because of gravity.
