The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Dhanbad, formerly known as the Indian School of Mines (ISB), Dhanbad, is an engineering institute established in 1926. This institute has 18 academic departments, including Engineering, Humanities, Applied Sciences, and Management programs. B.Tech

• Duration: 4 years

• Eligibility: 75% in class 12th in PCM and English/Hindi or any other first language exam taken

• Selection Criteria: JEE Advanced

M.Tech

• Duration: 2 years

• Eligibility: B.Tech/B.E. in a relevant discipline with 55% marks or above

• Selection Criteria: GATE merit-based through COAP counseling

Integrated M.Tech

• Duration: 5 years

• Eligibility: 75% in class 12th in PCM and English/Hindi or any other first language exam taken

M.Sc.

• Duration: 2 years

• Eligibility: 55% marks in B.Sc with Chemistry/ Mathematics & Computing/ Physics as one of the main subjects

• Selection Criteria: IIT JAM Merit-based

MBA

• Duration: 2 years

• Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 50% marks

PhD

• Eligibility: Master’s degree in relevant discipline

IIT Dhanbad 2025: Eligibility Criteria

Students with a 75% or equivalent in the 10+2 exam with Maths, Physics, and Chemistry are eligible to qualify for admission to IIT Dhanbad. JoSAA maintains the seat allocation based on JEE Advanced scorecard, course preferences, and the applicant's choice of colleges.

IIT Dhanbad 2025: Admission Procedure

Interested candidates have to qualify for JEE Main and Advanced exams, and admission is based on the candidate's rank in JEE Advanced. The seat allocation is taken care of by the JoSAA based on the JEE Advanced scorecard. The registration is done online, and fees must be given per IIT Dhanbad’s fee structure.

IIT Dhanbad 2025: Cut-Off

IIT Dhanbad offers a B.Tech course as a 4-year UG program, and the admission depends on the student's rank in the JEE Advanced exam. It usually varies between 2000-10000, although the ranks for different categories (OBC, SC/ST, PWD) differ in the opening and closing ranks. The closing rank has declined over the years for all B.Tech specialisations in IIT Dhanbad.

IIT Dhanbad offers many scholarships, mainly Merit cum Means for students belonging to economically backward classes, tuition waivers, and endowment fellowships for undergraduate students. SC/ST/PWD students are completely exempted from any payment of tuition fees.
