IIT Kharagpur Courses 

IIT Kharagpur offers over 120 courses across different streams at UG, PG, and PhD levels. It provides almost 70 courses in various disciplines at the UG. The duration of these engineering courses is 4 years for UG programs. IIT Kharagpur offers 15 different specialisations in its 4-year B.Tech degree. It also offers a 5-year B.Arch degree, a 5-year Dual Degree (Integrated B.Tech & M.Tech), or a five-year integrated M.Sc.

IIT Kharagpur - Course Admissions

IIT Kharagpur’s Ranking is fourth among all IITs.  Its framework is well built throughout the country.  IIT Kharagpur courses are diverse and offer students deep knowledge across fields like technology and engineering.. With such diversity, the students develop holistic knowledge around your discipline, which helps them stand out in the future.  For this reason the university attracts high-calibre students in their programmes.


IIT Kharagpur course admissions are enabled through the rank/score in various entrances. It consists of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for undergraduates. IIT Kharagpur also provides scholarships to students using Free-Messing and Merit-cum-means Scholarship.


The counselling process for admission to all IITs is facilitated by Joint Seat Allocation Authority(JoSAA), the schedule of which is decided after the declaration of IIT JEE Advanced results. The candidate is allotted a seat in the course through their JEE Advanced rank and preference of the courses is also allotted using the same criteria.

 

There are six counselling sessions for the candidates. The eligibility criteria for almost all  IIT Kharagpur courses include the following:


  • Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology as the major subjects.

  • Minimum of 50-60% of marks in Class 12 to appear for admission. 

  • SC/ ST will have the relaxation of up to 5% in the minimum qualifying marks.

  • Cut-off of the particular course.

  • Cut-off score of TOEFL and IELTS for admission of expat students from other

    • TOEFL score of at least 80 out of 120.

    • IELTS score of at least 6.5 out of 9.0.


IIT Kharagpur - Application Process

The students are required to complete entire admission applications to apply to IIT Kharagpur. It takes place through the online portal on the official IIT Kharagpur website. These are the following steps to apply for IIT Kharagpur courses:


Step 1)  Login in to the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur(IIT Kharagpur) website.

Step 2) The student should register for the JEE  Advanced exam for B.Tech and AAT Exam for B.Arch program. 

Step 3) The candidate should then upload all the personal, academic details, and the scanned images of their photograph and signature through the official IIT Kharagpur website. 

Step 4) The students will then have to pay an application fee using a debit card/credit card/net banking/UPI/Paytm by following the online instructions. 

Step 5) Once the payment is successful, print the acknowledgement slip for future reference.


Following is the List of Documents that Need to be Submitted Along with the Application Form:

  • Scanned copies of coloured photographs and date of birth certificate.

  • Certificates of caste and category (if applicable).

  • Scanned copies of educational certificate and qualifying mark sheet.

  • Scanned copies of the entrance examination scorecard.


IIT Kharagpur Cutoff 2024

IIT Kharagpur Fees 

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) have announced to raise their yearly tuition, which sets the IIT Kharagpur Fees from Rs 90,000 to Rs 2 lakh, according to the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development (HRD). Differently abled students and students from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and weaker groups will be exempt from paying any fees.  


IIT Kharagpur Scholarships

IIT Kharagpur offers financial support to as many students as possible in the form of scholarships. These scholarships are in the form of merit-cum-means scholarships and endowment scholarships.
