1. पाठ के आधार पर हर की पौड़ी होने वाली गंगा जी की आरती का भावपूर्ण वर्णन अपने शब्दों में कीजिए।

उत्तर: हम गंगा जी की आरती देखने के लिए हर की पौड़ी के घाट पर गए। उस घाट पर गंगा जी की आरती बहुत ही भव्य रूप से की जाती है हम उस भव्य आरती का इंतजार कर रहे थे। रात्रि के समय हर की पौड़ी के घाट को हर तरफ से दियो से सजा दिया जाता है और यह दृश्य बहुत अद्भुत होता है। रात्रि के समय इस घाट पर गंगा जी की आरती ही सुनाई देती है। इन दीयों की चमक से पूरा घाट जगमगा उठता है। इतना भव्य और सुंदर दृश्य देखकर मेरी आंखें उत्तेजित हो गई। इस घाट की भव्यता देखकर मेरे भीतर भी भक्ति की लहर दौड़ पड़ी। आरती के बाद बहुत समय तक हम मां गंगा के शीतल जल में रहे। मेरे मन से यह आवाज आ रही थी मानो मां गंगा मुझे आशीर्वाद दे रही हो।

2. गंगा पुत्र के लिए गंगा मैया की जीविका और जीवन है-इस कथन के आधार पर गंगापुत्र के जीवन- परिवेश की चर्चा कीजिए।

उत्तर: इस पाठ में गंगा पुत्र उन्हें कहा गया है जिनका जीवन गंगा के भरोसे है। गंगा में लोगों द्वारा डाले गए धन को एकत्रित करके ही ये अपनी आजीविका चलाते हैं। गंगापुत्र अपनी जान को जोखिम डाल कर गंगा में गोते लगा लगा कर इन पैसों को एकत्रित करते हैं। इनके पास अपनी आजीविका का और कोई साधन नहीं है। गंगा पुत्र दो समय की रोटी के लिए अपनी जान को जोखिम में डालते हैं। इनका जीवन परिवेश अच्छा नहीं होता। परंतु और कोई आजीविका का साधन न होने के कारण इन्हें यह का मजबूरन करना पड़ता है।

3. पुजारी ने लड़की के “हम” को युगल अर्थ में लेकर क्या आशीर्वाद दिया और पुजारी द्वारा आशीर्वाद देने के बाद लड़के और लड़की के व्यवहार में अटपटापन क्यों आया?

उत्तर: लड़की और लड़का एक साथ मंदिर में गए थे, तो पूजारी ने लड़की के “हम” कहने पर यह सोचा कि ये दोनों पति- पत्नी है। पुजारी ने इस भ्रम में आ कर लड़की को आशीर्वाद कि वे हमेशा साथ रहे। पुजारी जी का यह आशीर्वाद सुनकर दोनों को अटपटा पन महसूस हुआ। लड़की के हम शब्द प्रयोग करने के कारण पुजारी जी को भ्रम हो गया। दोनों को ही लज्जा महसूस हुई और एक दूसरे से आंख भी नहीं मिला पा रहे थे। दोनों ही एक दूसरे से अटपटा व्यवहार कर रहे थे उन्हें समझ नहीं आ रहा था कि किस प्रकार पुजारी जी को बताया जाए की लड़की ने हम का प्रयोग क्यों किया था।

4. इस छोटी सी मुलाकात ने संभव के मन में क्या हाल-चाल उत्पन्न कर दी? इसका सूक्ष्म विवेचन कीजिए।

उत्तर: मंसा देवी के मंदिर जाने के लिए जब संभव केबिल कार में बैठा था तो उसके मन में अनेक कल्पना उठ रही थी। उसकी कल्पना उस लड़की से मिलने की थी और उसे पाने की। इस उम्मीद के साथ मंदिर जा रहा था कि वह लड़की उसे दोबारा मिलेगी। पहली मुलाकात से ही संभव उस लड़की को चाहने लगा था और भीतर ही भीतर प्रेम जाल में बंधता जा रहा था। उस लड़की की पहली झलक संभव के मन में बस गई थी। पारो की सुंदर छवि को वह भुला नहीं पा रहा था। गुलाबी साड़ी में पारो बहुत सुंदर लग रही थी, संभव को यही दृश्य बार-बार याद आ रहा था।

5. मंसा देवी जाने के लिए केबिल कार में बैठी संभव के मन में जो कल्पनाएं उठ रही थी, उनका वर्णन कीजिए।

उत्तर: संभव को अपने जीवन में पहली बार किसी लड़की से प्रेम का आभास हुआ था। उसकी कल्पनाओं में संभव पूर्ण रूप से खोया हुआ था। वे मंसादेवी के मंदिर इसलिए जाना चाहता था क्योंकि उसे आस थी की शायद वह लड़की उससे दोबारा भेंट कर सके। संभव की कल्पना उस लड़की से मिलने और उसे पाने की थी। संभव अपनी नानी के घर गया था वहीं से वह उस घाट पर उस लड़की से मिला था। पहली मुलाकात के बाद उसके मन में बस चुकी थी इसलिए वह मंसा देवी जाने के लिए केबिल कार में बैठा। वह गुलाबी रंग की केबिल कार में बैठा।

6.”पारो बुआ, पारो बुआ इनका नाम है….. उसे भी मनोकामना का पीला-लाल धागा और उसमें पड़ी गिठा का स्मरण हो आया”। कथन के आधार पर कहानी के संकेत पूर्ण आशय पर टिप्पणी कीजिए।

उत्तर: लड़की के भाई के बेटे ने इसे पारो हुआ कहकर संबोधित किया तो संभव देवदास की पारो के ख्यालों में खो गया। वह सोचने लगा कि देवदास में देवदास की प्रेमिका पारो थी, और मेरी प्रेमिका का नाम भी पारो है। संभव ने अपनी पारो को प्राप्त करने के लिए मंसा देवी के मंदिर में जाकर मन्नत का धागा बांदा और दुआ की कि उसे पारो मिल जाए और अपने साथ उस लड़के की मधुर स्मृतियां लेकर मंदिर से वापस आ गया। संभव मन ही मन पारो से प्रेम करने लगा था। संभव उस गुलाबी साड़ी वाली लड़की का नाम जानना चाहता था तभी उस लड़की के भतीजे नहीं संभव को “ पारो बुआ, पारो बुआ।“तभी उसे उस लड़की का नाम पता चला।

7. ’मनोकामना की गांठ भी अद्भुत अनूठी है, इधर बांधी उधर लग जाती है।‘इस कथन के आधार पर पारो की मनोदशा का वर्णन कीजिए।

उत्तर: पारो भी पहली ही मुलाकात में संभव को पसंद करने लगी थी। जैसे ही पारो मनोकामना की घाट बांधती है तुरंत ही उसे संभव नजर आ जाता है। पारो की दशा का वर्णन इस पंक्ति से किया जाता है। पारो अपने मन ही मन में बोलती है कि-“मनोकामना की गांठ भी अद्भुत अनूठी है, इधर बांधी उधर लग जाती है।“इस पंक्ति से पता चलता है कि पारो संभव की स्मृति को अपने भीतर बसा चुकी थी। दोनों के भीतर मिलने की उत्सुकता समान थी। जिस प्रकार संभव ने पारो को पाने के लिए मनसा देवी मे मन्नत मांगी थी इसी प्रकार पारो भी संभव पाने के लिए मनसा देवी के मंदिर आई थी और वहां उसने मन्नत की चुनरी बांधी। मन्नत मांगते हैं संभव उसके समक्ष आ गया और वह अत्यंत ही खुश हो गई।

8. निम्नलिखित वाक्यों का आशय स्पष्ट कीजिए:

(क)”तुझे तो तैरना भी ना आवे। कहीं पैर फिसल जाता तो मैं तेरी मां को कौन सा मुंह दिखाती।“

उत्तर: संभव हर की पौड़ी के घाट से नहाकर नानी के घर देर से आया था तब उसकी नानी ने संभव से कहा की मुझे तुम्हारी फिक्र हो रही थी कि कहीं गंगा मे स्नान के समय तेरा पैर फिसल कर गंगा जी में तो नहीं गिर गया। नानी संभव से कहती है कि तुझे तैरना भी नहीं आता। अगर तुझे कुछ हो जाता तो मैं तुम्हारी मां को क्या बताती।

(ख) ”उसके चेहरे पर इतना विभोर विनीत भाव था मानो उसने अपना सारा अह्म त्याग दिया है, उसके अंदर स्व से जनति कोई-कंठु शेष नहीं है, वह शुद्ध रूप से चेतन स्वरूप, आत्माराम और निर्मलानंद है।“

उत्तर: संभव ने गंगा नदी के बीचो-बीच एक व्यक्ति को देखा जो सूरज को जल चढ़ा रहा था। उस व्यक्ति को देखकर संभव को ऐसा लगा जैसे उस व्यक्ति के अंदर अहंकार बिल्कुल नहीं है। व्यक्ति बहुत ही शांत नजर आ रहा था। उसे देख कर ऐसा लग रहा था मानो उसने अपना सब कुछ भगवान को समर्पित कर दिया है और अब उसके पास कुछ नहीं है लेकिन फिर भी वह ईश्वर की भक्ति में लीन है। उस पवित्र व्यक्ति को देखकर संभव को लगा जैसे वह व्यक्ति स्वाभिमान संपन्न है उसे किसी चीज की कमी नहीं है। अहंकार त्याग करने के कारण उस व्यक्ति के जीवन में कोई दुख प्रतीत नहीं हो रहा था।

(ग) ”एकदम अंदर के प्रकोष्ठ में चामुंडा रूप धरिणी मंसा देवी स्थापित थी। व्यापार यहां भी था।“

उत्तर: संभव अपनी नानी के घर गया था|वहाँ से वह मनसा देवी के मंदिर जा पहुँचा उसने वहाँ की भव्यता को देखा और चकित रह गया। ऊपर दी गई पंक्तियों के माध्यम से संभव मंसादेवी के बारे में बता रहा है। मंसा देवी के मंदिर में संभव ने चामुंडा रूप में स्थापित मंसा देवी के दर्शन किए तथा मंदिर के आसपास लगी दुकानों को देखकर वह सोचने लगा कि मंदिर के साथ-साथ यहां व्यापार का भी अच्छा साधन है। मंदिर के बाहर लगी दुकानों को देखकर ऐसा लगता है की मंदिर होने के साथ-साथ या लोगों की आजीविका का साधन भी है।

9. ’दूसरा देवदास ‘ कहानी के शीर्षक की सार्थकता स्पष्ट किजिए।

उत्तर: इस कहानी के पात्र संभव अपने प्रेमिका पारो से मिलने के लिए बहुत व्याकुल रहता हैं जिस तरह शरतचन्द्र के नाटक में ‘ देवदास ‘ में अपनी पारो से मिलने कि लिए व्याकुल रहता है ।अत: इस कहानी को शीर्षक ‘ दूसरा देवदास ‘ सार्थक है।पारो के एक मात्र दर्शन से संभव उसके प्रेम में डूब जाता हैं।संभव ने उस गुलाबी साड़ी वाली लड़की के बारे में जानने के लिए उसे मंसा देवी मंदिर में खोजा। संभव के भीतर पारो की छवि छप चुकी थी ।उसे पाने के लिए उसने मंसा देवी के मंदिर में  मन्नत का धागा बांधा। पारो भी मन ही मन संभव को पसंद करने लगी थी उसने भी मन्नत की चुनरी संभव से मिलने के लिए बांधी और तभी संभव उससे मिल जाता हैं।जैसे ही संभव पारो से मिलता है उसे लगता है मानो उसका जीवन सार्थक हो गया।

10. 'हे ईश्वर! उसने कब सोचा था कि मनोकामना का मौन उद्गार इतनी शीध्र सुभ परिणाम ।‘ – आशय स्पष्ट किजिए।

उत्तर: संभव को पारो से पहली नजर में ही प्रेम हो गया था उसने उस लड़की को पाने के लिए मंसा देवी के मंदिर में मन्नत की गाँठ बांधी। संभव मन ही मन चाहत था कि ईश्वर उसे पारो से मिलवा दे इसी उम्मीद में वह मंसा देवी के मंदिर गाँठ बांधने गया था। संभव की तरह ही पारो भी मंदिर में संभव से मिलने के लिए ईश्वर से प्रार्थना करने आई थी उसने वहां मन्नत मांगते हुए चुनरी बांधी। कुछ समय बाद ही संभव को मंदिर के बाहर पारो मिल गई तो वह सोचने लगा की – “हे ईश्वर! मनोकामना का इतना शीघ्र शुभ परिणाम। ‘ वह पारो को देखकर अत्यंत उत्साहित हो उठा। पारो भी संभव हो देखकर खुशी से शर्माने लगी। उन दोनों की मनोकामना इतने शीघ्र शुभ परिणाम लाई इसका उन्हें कोई अंदाजा नहीं था।

उत्तर: हमने पाठ से कुछ उदाहरण लिए है जो निम्नलिखित है:

(क) यकायक सहस्र दीप जल उठते है पंडित अपने आसान से उठ खड़े होते है ।

(ख) संभव हंसा। उसके एक सार खूबसूरत दांत सांवले चेहरे पर फब उठे।

(ग) गंगा सभी के स्वयंसेवक खाकी वर्दी में मुस्तैदी से घूम रहे हैं।

(घ) दूसरा यह दृश्य देखकर मालूम होता है कि वे संबोधन गंगा जी के गर्भ तक पहुंच रहे हैं।
