FAQs on NCERT Solutions for Class 4 EVS Chapter 24 - Home And Abroad

1. Why many trees cannot grow in desert areas?

Ans: Desert areas are characterized by very dry weather and little water. These conditions are the reason why only a few trees are found in desert regions. Trees need adequate rainfall and water to grow healthily. In deserts, the underground water levels are very low, therefore all kinds of trees cannot grow there. Only cacti are well adapted to grow in such conditions. The climate of desert areas is very harsh. Apart from the lack of rain, there are extreme temperatures in which most plants cannot survive. Only plants that have adaptive features for extreme climate can grow in desert areas.

2. Do you think that two currency notes can have the same number?

Ans: Two notes can never have the same number. Currency notes are distinguished from each other with the help of unique serial numbers. The distinct serial number in each note helps the government in keeping track of the total number of currency notes in the market. If two notes had the same number, then it would be impossible for higher authorities to keep track of the total money in circulation. Hence, to make the work of the government easier, when currency notes are printed, a special number is printed on it.

3. Why do you believe that many trees can't thrive in deserts like Abu Dhabi?

Ans: Trees take a lot of water to flourish, and because Abu Dhabi is a desert, water is scarce. As a result, many trees cannot thrive in arid environments. Only plants that require less water, such as the Date palm and the cactus, can survive. Many plants are unable to grow in dry environments due to a lack of water. Due to the loss of water from their leaf surface in such a dry and hot environment, these plants require extra water to fulfil their needs for their growth and nourishment.
