MBBS and BDS Seat Allotment through NEET 2024 state-wise is already being released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. There are approximately 91,927 MBBS seats in 612 colleges and a total of 48,012 government seats and 43,915 seats are in private MBBS colleges. The NEET 2024 counselling will be conducted for admission into 91,927 MBBS and 26,949 BDS seats.

Key Highlights of NEET 2024 Seat Allotment

  • Quota Division: NEET 2024 seats are split between All India Quota (15%) and the State Quota.

  • Centralised Counselling: Centralised counselling will fill the 15% All India Quota seats for MBBS and BDS courses.

  • State Counselling: The remaining seats are allotted through state-level counselling.

The total MBBS seats in India in 2019 were 70,978. The availability is now increased so that many aspirants will grab the chance and build their careers in MBBS. In the year 2019, 269 colleges had announced their seat up-gradation for 35,688 seats, and the good news is that they are government-run colleges. On the other hand, 260 private colleges also announced that they have over 35,290 seats for the desired students. 

 

The MBBS seats in India 2018 were not enough, and so, the Health department from the centre has declared an up-gradation of total government MBBS seats in India 2019. This upgrade is also for BDS in private as well as government colleges. Also, BDS seats in India had increased to 26,773 in the 313 colleges via NEET and a total of 23,260 seats in 263 private colleges or deemed universities.

 

Seat Matrix for the Academic Year 2024

  • MCC will be releasing the NEET 2024 Seat Matrix after the counselling process starts.

  • Seat allocation is made based on the score, the rank, and the cutoff, which are decided by the colleges participating. 

  • The institutes that are allotted to the candidates are based on the candidates’ choices filled in at the time of the online counselling process. 

  • For admission into UG courses in AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy), students must appear for NEET 2024. 

  • The government has chosen to increase the number of MBBS and BDS seats post-implementation of the EWS quota. 

 

Role of MCC in NEET 2024 Seat Allotment

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will manage the NEET 2024 seat allotment for the following quotas:


  • 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats.

  • 100% seats for BHU, AIIMS, and DU (MBBS/BDS).

  • 100% seats for JIPMER in Puducherry and Karaikal.

  • 85% State Quota (SQ) seats for DU and IP University.

  • 15% Internal Quota seats for ESIC.

  • 100% Dentistry seats, including a 5% quota for Jamia students.


NEET 2024 Seat Allotment Process

The NEET 2024 seat allotment will involve three rounds, including a mop-up round for vacant seats. Key points include:


  • Criteria: Seat allotment is based on NEET 2024 marks, seat availability, and candidate preferences.

  • Seat Acceptance: After seat allotment results are announced, candidates can accept or decline the seat.

  • Allotment Letter: Accepted candidates must download the allotment letter using their roll number, date of birth, and security pin.

  • Reporting: Candidates must report to the designated centres with the allotment letter and required documents for verification and admission.

  • Admission Process: The admission process takes place over two to three days, so timely reporting to the allotted institute is crucial.

  • Medical Examination: Candidates must undergo a medical examination to confirm their fitness.

  • Admission Confirmation: The allotted college will send the candidate's details to DGHS so that the admission letter can be issued.


Non-acceptance of Seats:

  • First Round: If candidates decline the seat after the first round and do not want to continue with counselling, no fees will be deducted (free exit).

  • Second Round: Declining a seat after the second round will result in a deduction of refundable fees.

  • Further Rounds: Candidates not allotted a seat can opt for subsequent rounds by providing fresh college choices. This option is not available after the second round.

The NEET UG seat allotment result indicates the allocation of seats for medical and dental colleges in India. NEET UG is a competitive exam for admission to MBBS, BDS, and other medical courses in both government and private colleges nationwide.

NEET Seats Scope
