Why Can't the NEET UG Exam Be Held Twice? NMC's (National Medical Commission) Response

The National Medical Commission has clarified that conducting the NEET UG Exam twice a year is not feasible. This is primarily because all the available MBBS seats get occupied during the counseling process. The NMC's response comes in reply to a request from the All India Student Union, a student organization that proposed having the NEET UG Exam twice annually.

The NMC emphasized that organizing the NEET UG Exam demands substantial resources, and conducting it twice would place an excessive financial burden on the government. Meanwhile, the NMC has recently withdrawn the Graduate Medical Education Regulations 2024. It has also soUGht input from stakeholders regarding revised regulations for the Competency-Based Medical Education Curriculum, Minimum Standard Conditions for establishing new medical colleges or enhancing MBBS course seats, and maintaining standards of medical education in 2024.

Will, the NEET 2024 Examination be Conducted by the NTA or NMC?
