The complete International Organization Olympiad 2024-25 exam eligibility criteria is discussed below in this article.  There are conditions with respect to age, educational qualification, and experience which the candidate must satisfy for attempting the IBO challenge  2024-25.  These conditions are clearly described below in the article. The IBO 2024 exam is scheduled from 10 -17 July at Yerevan State University in Yerevan, Armenia. Students who want to take part in IBO have to go through the first stage,  Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Biology (IOQB) which  will be conducted on 16 January 2025

  • The candidate should have been born on July 1 or later of the competition year minus 20  

  • The candidate must be from a “regular“  secondary school (Unesco ISCED: 11) of a member country/region.

  • No diploma to study at University or equivalent institution before 1 January of the competition  year .

  • Must not study full-time at University (or equivalent)

  • Must be a winner of 

  • member NBO in the competition year.

  • Must not be trained in the group(s) of < 51 for more than 2 weeks.

  • Besides: The requirement for NBO design must be fulfilled (eg: be accessible to students from all national public schools).

  • Must have competed in the exam less than twice.


  • Must not have been an observer or Jury Member

 

Important Note for the IBO Exam

The term ISCED Code specifies the qualification band (pre-university):

  • The term regular school means public or private school that follows the national (Science/ Biology) syllabus of the IBO member country. This excludes the foreign, IB, International school, etc. unless the national diploma is provided in parallel.

  • Candidates are advised to take a detailed note of the eligibility criteria mentioned above. Without those specific criteria, candidates will not be allowed to participate in the examination. Eligibility criteria often change as per requirement and the same is updated on the website regularly. It is also important to note that candidates studying at the university level are not eligible to sit for this examination.

  • Olympiads are particularly meant for secondary and higher secondary students. This is because they are meant to prepare them for other higher-level examinations in the future. Students should have a strong base on the subject, Biology to be able to sit for future higher-level examinations.

  • This is only possible when candidates delve deeper into the contents of the subject, get hold of various technical books and reference materials for them to analyse the contents and then bring up the queries to the attention of their teachers for better clarity. It is only when they find means to clarify all their confusions, they get a stronger hold on the subjects.

  • The preparation for practical and theories have different strategies and students should be aware of the same. Questions related to diagrams also play an important role in the examination and thus students are advised to take a note of all the illustrations drawn in their books and jot down important notes from the same.

  • Once the eligibility criteria is satisfied, students should go about getting themselves registered for the examination by paying the minimum fees that might be asked for the process. Ans: To enhance the objective marking and speed up the marking process only precoded(closed) questions are used in the exam. Examples are multiple-choice questions, and questions based upon matching, sequencing, filling out a number or code, or true/ false.
