Sections Covered In IGKO Syllabus For Class 2

The SOG IGKO exam 2024-25 is conducted for Classes 1 to 10 and has only one level of examination. Since General Knowledge is a vast subject, students often find it difficult to crack the pattern and level of difficulty of the questions. This is a crucial area that needs to be thoroughly understood such as to know the exam format; the sections under which questions will be asked; the weightage of marks in each section and the syllabus of each section.


Olympiads is all about gaining knowledge and testing one’s skills based on various factors. But when it comes to IGKO, one doesn’t need to  text their knowledge. The main aim of the IGKO Olympiad 2024-25 and the sample papers is to broaden the horizon of awareness about what's going on in the world. It helps to think beyond one’s notebooks and prepare them for worldly affairs. Let’s now check the different sections covered in IGKO syllabus 2024-25 for Class 2.


The IGKO exam for Class 2 consists of a total of 35 questions carrying a total of 40 marks, divided into four different sections described below.

1. General Awareness – The weightage of this section is 50-55% as it is considered to be the most important section of the IGKO Olympiad. The most general questions from the school curriculum are included in this section and it is the simplest section for the students to solve. It highlights topics from subjects like social studies, the universe, world science, language, and technology. For more details you can check IGKO sample papers Class 2.

2. Current Affairs – This section is filled with topics from entertainment, sports and current affairs with a weightage of 15%. This is the 2nd most important section in the IGKO Olympiad. The students can refer to newspapers, magazines, television news, and other resources to keep themselves updated about the happenings in and around the world. It is to be noted that the level of difficulty of the questions is set corresponding to the class of the students.

3. Life Skills – Life Skills is an equally important section in the IGKO Olympiad. For more details about the pattern of the examination, you can check the IGKO Olympiad sample papers class 2. This section has a weightage of 10-15% and is very scoring as it is based on life skills like effective communication, empathy, quantitative aptitude, reasoning, decision making, and personal and interpersonal skills.

4. Achievers Section – Even though this section makes up for only 5 questions in the entire paper it is the highest scoring section in IGKO. The weightage is higher as each question consists of 2 marks for Classes 1 to 4 and 3 marks for Classes 5 to 10. The difficulty level of these questions is tough comparatively as it contains HOTS – High Order Thinking Skills.
