FAQs on IGKO Sample Paper With Answers for Class 8
1. What is the key strategy to crack IGKO Class 8?
The IGKO exam is a single level test further divided into four sections, ie. General Awareness, Current Affairs, Life Skills and Achievers Section. Often students get confused about how to start with the preparation for such a test. Some important tactics to apply while preparing for the test are:
1. Know your Goals - It is important for the student to be aware of his mental capacity and prepare accordingly. If he/she is weak in Maths, make sure to practice on topics that are the areas of weakness and can be easily overcome through sample papers available on Vedantu.
2. Collection of Study Materials - Less is more so you need not carry too many study materials. Keep the revision crisp and keep solving as many mock papers as possible.
3. Syllabus - The topics and the syllabus are the first things you need to have on your fingertips so that you can study accordingly. Often students miss out on this fact and it causes a blunder on the main day of the test.
4. Exam Pattern - Be clear on the weightage to be given on each section. Understand the concepts since it is a test that checks the fundamentals of varied subjects. If the basics are not clear, it will be very difficult for a student to solve questions based on advanced difficulty levels. So studying smart is equally important as hard work.
2. When should I start preparing for IGKO?
There is no fixed date or time to start the preparation for the exam. If a candidate wants to score well, they should begin their preparation as early as possible. Students can start off by understanding the pattern and the syllabus which is different for different classes. Consistency in practice builds the motivation which is required for this test. Students from Std 1-10 are eligible to answer the IGKO level 1. Students can solve sample papers or previous years’ question papers to keep up with their regular practice.
3. Are only sample papers sufficient enough for the IGKO?
A weightage of 80% should be given to the sample papers as suggested by Vedantu. The time for the remaining 20% should be given to NCERTS, newspapers and study materials available in a concrete form on several websites online. One needs to have a clear concept of the basics and solving mock papers only strengthens it. The students can browse through various websites to find solved questions and examples on various topics but do not look for too many resources to avoid confusion.
4. What should one focus on while preparing for IGKO?
Since the sections in the IGKO paper as per the latest syllabus given by SOF are the same, the topics vary as the classes get higher. So right off the bat, one should lay emphasis on the syllabus and the pattern. Time management, maintaining a schedule should be done with an extra focus on topics that need improvement. Detailed knowledge of subjects of a particular class is mandatory to be studied for scoring good marks in this test. Keep revising the topics and also stay updated with the current affairs.
5. What is the exam date for IGKO?
The IGKO exam is held annually across schools registered under SOF. The dates may vary depending on the convenience of the schools. In case there are two dates mentioned for the conduct of the exam, each date will have a separate question paper for students to answer. The exact date of exams will be announced by the school a couple of days or weeks ahead of the exam or will be sent a notice regarding the same to the interested students.
