Pre RMO Counselling 2024-25

Due to COVID - 19, there will be no PRMO and RMO this year. A three-hour examination known as the Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Mathematics (IOQM), conducted by the Mathematics Teachers Association (India)(MTA)(I) will be held instead of PRMO and RMO. Keep reading to know more about IOQM.

IOQM syllabus and examination format will be similar to PRMO this year.

Pre RMO or Pre Regional Mathematical Olympiad is the first stage of the Mathematical Olympiad. Students who qualify in the Pre RMO exam can be eligible for the Regional Mathematical Olympiad or RMO. Pre RMO counselling will be conducted after the Pre RMO result is published. The counselling will be conducted under the authority of the Homi Bhabha Centre For Science Education (HBCSE).

Pre RMO Result

The result of the Pre Regional Mathematical Olympiad will be announced on the official website of mtaexam.com. Visit the website and click on the link that says ‘Pre RMO result’. Then enter your roll number and date of birth (DoB) as mentioned on your Pre RMO admit card. After that, the result will appear on the screen and you can take a printout for future reference.

Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) generally releases the result every year in September or October 2024.

Pre RMO Cut-Off

Along with the Pre RMO Result, HBCSE also publishes the Pre RMO cut-off for every state/JNVs/KVs. Students who will secure more than the Pre RMO cut-off marks can successfully find their roll numbers in the merit list.

After Pre RMO exams, the top (up to) 300 students from Classes 8,9,10,11, and the top (up to) 60 students from Class 12 will be eligible to write the Regional Mathematics Olympiad from each region. Based on the RMO exam, the final list of 30 top students from Classes 8,9,10,11, and the top 6 students from Class 12 plus the next 5 girl students will be sent by each regional coordinator to HBCSE by November. HBCSE will announce the list of students eligible to appear for INMO 2024-25 from all regions by December.

FAQs on Pre RMO Counselling

1. Where is the Pre RMO Exam held in General?

Ans: Pre RMO exam takes place in all the KVs and JNV schools across India.

2. What is the Date for the Pre RMO 2024-25 Exam?

3. How many Students get Selected for the RMO Exam?

Ans: Top 300 students from Classes 8, 9, 10, 11 and the top 60 students from Class 12 from each region will be selected for RMO exam (Regional Mathematics Olympiad).

4. How many questions are asked in PRMO?

Ans: PRMO is a three-hour long written test with around 30 questions. Each question will have a 1 or 2-digit answer. OMR sheets will be provided for students to fill in their answers. As the OMR sheets will be checked electronically, partly-filled options will not be counted even if they are correct. Ans: The RMO exam assesses not just the students' knowledge but also their ability to apply it. Every child, for example, learns how to calculate HCF and LCM, but the questions they will be asked are based on "Applications of HCF and LCM". Students can evaluate their achievement at the school, city, state, national, and international levels using RMO. It allows them to see the big picture and assess their performance in contrast to others. This exam instills a sense of self-awareness and gives a head start to the students.

6. What are the main topics covered in Pre RMO and RMO syllabus?

Ans: This is one of the most crucial maths competitive exams that you can take at the school level. The topics you will study for these exams are Algebra, Combinatorics, Geometry, and Number Theory. Vedantu provides free study materials for preparing these topics.
