Swami Dayananda Saraswathi was born on 12 February 1824 in Gujarat in India. He was a sanyasi from boyhood. He had a strong belief in the infallible authority of the Vedas. Swami Dayananda adopted Swami Virjanand as his guru. Dayananda advocated equal rights for women, he said that women have all the rights to learn education. Swami Dayananda created the Arya Samaj which condemned various religious practices like animal sacrifice, idol worship, cast systems, child marriages, meat-eating, pilgrimages, pries craft, offerings made in temples, and most importantly the discrimination against women. He never believed in superstitions like astrology and sorcery. He severely criticized those practices. He said that all superstition activities are fake and he also said that young people should be aware of this and should try to understand it even from their childhood so that they are never dumped by such an unprincipled person. Arya samaj strictly avoids caste systems. Arya samaj promotes inter-caste marriage systems and dining. In those days caste was followed by many people and untouchability was unavoidable. Arya Samaj was against the caste-based concepts. Swami Dayananda’s motto was “go back to Vedas''. He made commentaries on the Vedas. Those commentaries are available in Hindi.
