Complete answer:
Robinson Crusoe novel is written by Daniel Defoe and published by William Taylor on 25th April 1719 entitled ‘The Life and Strange Surprising Adventures of Robinson Crusoe’. This novel was emanated when there was colonization in the world. In the book it is depicted about the character of Robinson who disobeyed the instructions of his parents and leaves the luxuries of a middle class family in England and goes to seas to fulfill his sea adventure.
During his trip he was involved in a situation of violent storms which surrounded him with danger and decided to board another ship in which he successfully reached Africa and completed the trip. Again he decided for another trip where he was prisoned and spent 28 years of his life on the remote tropical desert island of Venezuela and Trinidad. He had joined an expedition to free slaves from Africa.
There were many situations in which he was recognized as a typical coloniser and they are:
He helped in rescuing a native by making him slave and released him without even caring to know his name and later named him ‘Friday’.
On the island, he treated the shipwrecked colored people as inferior human beings.
Colonized people were seen as uncivilized and undeveloped which led to the acceptance of self-professed civilized people.
Thus, the character of Robinson Crusoe is portrayed similar to that of a coloniser.
