Secondary cells consist of one or more electrochemical cells. These are rechargeable due to the reversible reaction in them. These are lightweight and portable and are hence used for multiple purposes. Various applications of secondary cells are –

-UPS and batteries.

There are two types of cells – primary and secondary cells. The main difference between them is that the reaction in primary cells is irreversible and thus these are non-rechargeable while the reaction in secondary cells is reversible making it rechargeable.
