Hint: Sperm is referred to as the male gamete present in the testicles and egg cell is referred to as the female gamete present in the ovary. The process of fusion of a sperm and an egg cell to produce a zygote is referred to as fertilization.

Step by step answer:Artificial insemination is the process of introduction of sperm into a female’s vagina deliberately for the purpose of achieving a pregnancy via in vivo fertilization. This procedure does not require sexual intercourse which is a normal method of achieving pregnancy. It is a fertility treatment done in humans and also done in animals to practice animal breeding in the dairy cattle and pigs. This procedure comes under Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) and animal husbandry. The procedure of artificial insemination involves primarily the preparation of semen samples. Sperms are taken from sperms banks or from the partner. Sperm banks store sperms by keeping them frozen and thaws it out before making any preparations. Cryoprotectants are added before sperms are frozen. After preparing the sperm sample that has to be inseminated, it is directly implanted into the uterus with a catheter, keeping the walls of the vagina open using a speculum. The catheter enters the uterus via the cervix and the sperm is pushed into the uterus. Sperm is artificially inseminated after the ovulation process as fertility is highest at this point after menstruation.
Hence, the correct option is A. Artificial introduction of sperms of a healthy donor into the vagina

Note: There are a few risks of artificial insemination. Swelling of ovaries due to medications and artificial insemination. It results in complications in pregnancy.
