Hint:- Rann of Kutch is a large salt marsh at the west border of India and is extended up to some parts of Pakistan. The most part of Rann of Kutch is expanded over the state of Gujrat in India and some parts of it are also distributed to Sindh of Pakistan.

Complete Answer:-
Rann of Kutch is mostly dry most of the time of the year, having subtropical climate. Rainfall concentration is very less and mostly found in June to September. The harsh climate of Rann of Kutch gives rise to desert vegetation, including mangroves and grasslands. Species adapted to such a climate are inhabitants of this place.
Rann of Kutch is a natural habitat for several mammals, especially Indian wild ass. Though Indian wild asses has been limited in number now. The herbivores are predominant in this region. Besides this, this is also the place for water birds like flamingos, demoiselle crane etc. The seasonal wetlands facilitate these birds to breed in this area. The breeding of flamingos does not depend on the presence of Indian wild asses. They exist independently in nature. Hence, the breeding of flamingos neither gets affected nor gets dependent on the existence of Indian wild asses. Therefore assertion (A) and reason (R) both are correct but R is not the correct explanation of A.

The correct answer is Option B.

Note:- The historical significance of Rann of Kutch is primarily marked by early Neolithic age and later with the inhibition of Indus Valley Civilization as well as the Maurya and Gupta empires of India. In 1973, the Indian Wild Ass Sanctuary was established including most of the areas of Little Rann (Rann of Kutch is divided into Great Rann and Little Rann).
