Babar’s autobiography is known as Baburnama or Tuzuk-i-Baburi. Babar’s actual name was Zahir-ud-din Muhammad. His name was derived from the Persian word Babr which means Tiger.
In 1504 he conquered Kabul. In 1524, he was invited by Daulat Khan Lodi, a rebel of the Lodi dynasty to fight the dynasty and their enemies in Rajputana.
In 1526, Babar won the battle of Panipat against the Lodi king, Ibrahim Lodi. He captured Delhi and was the founder of the greatest dynasty of North India- The Mughal Empire. He defeated Rana Sanga in the battle of Khanwa.
The only two emperors of the Mughal Empire Babar and Jhangir who wrote their own biography. Baburnama is also known to be the first true autobiography in Islamic literature. Babarnama was written in Babar’s mother tongue Turki.
