CK Nayudu is remembered for his exceptional batsmanship. He was one of the first Indian cricketers to get a chance to play in a test match. By becoming the first captain of the Indian Test squad, Nayudu made history.
Nayudu scored 153 runs in 116 minutes for the Hindus at the Bombay Gymkhana, including 11 sixes. One of the sixes, thrown by Bob Wyatt, landed on the Gymkhana's roof. In honour of that innings, the MCC presented him with a silver bat.
At the age of seven, Nayudu was drafted for the school squad and showed promise for a great future. In the Bombay Triangular, he made his first-class debut in 1916. He batted at No. 9 for the Hindus against the Europeans, with his team struggling at 79 for 7.
