Hint: Taxonomy is the science of naming, describing and classifying all organisms (plants, animals, microorganisms). Taxonomy is the scientific method of naming, defining and classifying groups of biological organisms based on shared characteristics.

Complete answer:
Taxonomy classifies an organism into an already existing group or creates a new group for the particular organism. The various grouping levels in the classification of organisms are known as taxonomic categories. Examples of taxonomic ranks are species, genus, family, order, class, phylum, kingdom, domain.

Taxonomic categories are called the Linnaean hierarchy because it was proposed by Linnaeus. To construct the hierarchy of classification, species are grouped into a genus, genera are grouped into a family, families are grouped into order, orders into class, classes into phylum and various phyla are compiled into the kingdom. The lowest rank is species and to highest rank is kingdom in the hierarchy of taxonomic categories.

Option A: Many classes are combined into orders. In this option, the rank of order comes later. Therefore, this is the incorrect option.

Option B: Species are grouped into a genus, genera are grouped into a tribe, tribes are grouped into a family, families are grouped into order, orders into class, classes into phylum or divisions. Therefore, this is the correct option.

Option C: The ranks of order and family is wrong. Therefore, this is the incorrect option.

Option D: The ranks of class and family are wrong. Therefore, this is the incorrect option.

Hence, the correct answer is option (B)

Note: The history of taxonomy states that first only plants and animals were generally classified. The discovery of microorganisms, fungi and protozoans demanded a broader set of classification.
