Hint: The adhesion and cohesion forces, both vary in their strengths. Cohesive forces are responsible for surface tension, Cohesive attraction is the property of the same molecules sticking together whereas adhesive attraction is the property of different molecules sticking together.

Complete answer:
There are many phenomena that explain many things in our surroundings. Two types of forces of molecules are also there, one is cohesive force and other is adhesive force. If we define cohesion and adhesion, it will be- The tendency of the molecules to bond with each other is known as Adhesion and the force of attraction between the same molecules is known as Cohesion. Both forces vary in their strengths.
For instance, if cohesion force between the water molecules are stronger than that of adhesion forces between them then the each individual molecule will attract towards each other and they results in settling and if adhesion forces are stronger than that of the cohesion force then the water molecules tends to disperse.
If we talk about examples of cohesion and adhesion then, the formation of the water droplets on the surface tension of a liquid is due to cohesion and the spreading of a liquid on a solid surface is due to adhesion.

Note: In other words we can say that cohesion is an intermolecular attraction whereas adhesion is an intramolecular attraction. Cohesion includes van der waal forces and hydrogen bonding and adhesion includes electrostatic attractions.
