Hint: This is a rule used widely in the area of electromagnetism and in daily life devices in which our left hand is arranged in a particular way in order to find out the direction of flow of electric current, Lorentz force and the magnetic field.
Complete step by step answer:
It is a rule in electricity which says that if the thumb and first two fingers of the left hand are kept at right angles to each other on a conductor where we have to measure a certain quantity so that the first finger get oriented in the direction of the magnetic field, the middle finger in the direction of the electric current and the thumb will point in the direction of the force on the conductor. So basically this is the law. Using this law, we can find the direction of flow of electric current, magnetic field and the force. This law was invented by John Ambrose Fleming. That is the law is named after him. He was an electrical engineer. This law has very much significance in our daily life. It has been used in the case of electric motors. It is useful in determining the direction of current in generator windings also. The force measured using this method is magnetic Lorentz force which is explained as the combination of magnetic force as well as electric force on a point charge due to the electromagnetic fields.
Note:
Fleming's Left-Hand Rule is basically an easy as well as an accurate way to find the direction of force or the motion of the conductor in an electric motor or generators windings This force is widely used in the area of electromagnetism and thereby it is also known as the electromagnetic force. Hendrik Lorentz derived the modern formula of Lorentz force in the year 1895.
