The riverfront garden in the layout of the Taj Mahal was adapted by Shah Jahan. This was one of the most significant architectural achievements of his time. The mausoleum was placed on a terrace at the edge of the river.The garden was in the south.This architectural form was constructed in order to keep the noble’s access to the river in check. Only the specially favoured nobles like Dara Shoukh who was Shah Jahan’s son could have access to the river.
