Nitrogen cycle consists of 5 steps:
> Nitrogen fixation – It is formation of ammonia from nitrogen.
> Nitrification – It is the formation of nitrates from the ammonia.
> Assimilation – it is the incorporation of ammonia and nitrates into biological tissues.
> Ammonification – it is the formation of organic nitrogen compounds to ammonia.
> Denitrification – it is the process of conversion of nitrogen again by nitrates.
Fixation is the first step which makes nitrogen usable by the plants.
