Hint: As the name suggests, it is a breeze created by the air above sea water. This breeze is soothing in nature. Since, the warmer air leads up and the cooler air leads down so this creates a cycle resulting into a breeze.
Complete answer:
We say a region as coastal if there is an attachment between the land and sea in that area. This attachment is clearly visible through our eyes. The water touching the edge of the land is what we call a sea breeze. It is a soft wind created by air coming from the sea. The following diagram shows the sea breeze.
During summers in the day, the air is a little high in temperature. This temperature affects the temperature of land and sea. In the coastal region, during part of the day, land’s temperature gets higher than the sea’s temperature. This is because sea water takes longer time to reach a higher temperature than the water. This affects the warmth of air present above it which results into the air above land to be warmer than the air above sea.
Warmer air has a property of being lighter in weight in nature, so it rises above the land and the space that is left by it is filled up by the sea’s slightly cool air. This transfer of land’s air to water and water’s air to land makes a cycle. This whole procedure of such cycle is known by us as sea breeze.
Note:
If the question asked about the land breeze then, it will be the cycle which is reversed and actually happens during night in summers, resulting in a land breeze. The most important thing to note here is that the warmer air has a nature to get in an upper level of cooler air. Since, in the sea breeze the cooler air was present above sea water and the air above land was warmer, so this is why the warmer air gets up leaving a space behind which gets filled up by cooler air which is above sea water.
