In the month of January 1660, Shaista Khan arrived at Aurangabad and start seizing the Pune. The fort of Chakan and Kalyan and north Konkan all are captured by him after heavy fighting with the Marathas. The Marathas were then banned from entering the Pune city. Kartalab Khan and Rai Began started to assist Shaista Khan in his campaign. Later, both Kartalab Khan and Rai Began are sent by Shaista Khan to capture the Raj gad Fort.
